Blossom into March Surrey Homes talks to Beauty Therapist Kimberley Brook... Beauty Do you have a beauty regime? I have always taken the best care of my skin and used what I stock in the salon and recommend to clients. The Eve Taylor range is aromatherapy based skincare that gives amazing results. My regime is fairly complex so bear with me…In the morning I use my favourite cleansing wash, (Eve Taylor Purifying Wash) which just foams up, making it perfect for use in the shower. I then apply a concentrated aromatherapy facial oil to my face, neck and décolletage area, followed by a refreshing spritz toner all over. I follow this with a pure hyaluronic acid serum which drenches my skin in moisture and plumps out any early signs of ageing, an eye cream (Eve Taylor Eye Complex), facial moisturiser, lip balm and finally an SPF 15 protection cream. In the evening I use an eye makeup remover, then cleanse off my makeup with a pre cleansing oil (Eve Taylor Clear Cleanse). I then follow on with the facial cleanse and the rest of my morning routine. Do you have a particular product you couldn’t live without? This is a hard one. I love all of them! If I had to pick, my go-to product would be the Eve Taylor C+ Bright Moisturiser as this does so many important things. It can be used as a moisturiser on its own so I always pack this for my holidays. It protects my skin from the sun and brightens my skin, giving it a lovely glow. It also works as a great base for makeup so I always finish with this for my brides when doing bridal makeup. What’s your ultimate pampering treat? I love facials… could you guess? For me, it’s the ultimate in relaxation, you can just drift away. Having a facial massage and working on all those pressure points just releases any tension in the mind. Who’s your style icon? Jennifer Aniston. She is naturally very beautiful, with a great outlook on skincare and ageing. She always looks fantastic and I just love her dress sense. She’s effortlessly chic. Kombucha is a deliciously light and gently effervescent drink made from black or green tea. Despite having a recent resurgence in the health kick craze, it has been made and consumed since the Tsin dynasty in 221BC. Known as ‘the remedy for immorality’ its exact origins are unclear but it’s thought to have travelled from the far eastern regions of China, across Japan and over to Europe. Numerous studies have shown how nutritionally valuable well-made Kombucha is. It populates the digestive system with probiotics, enhancing the immune system, detoxifying the blood, improving circulation, digestion and boosting energy. When made correctly, the sugar in the initial product is converted into organic acids during fermentation, making the final drink suitable for those with candida or diabetes. The symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast, or SCOBY, feeds on the sugar, so what’s left after around seven days is a subtly sweet beverage. There are a few easy-to-follow recipes online, or you can simply buy a bottle in a local health food store. Beeautiful... Started by a husband and wife team in Hampshire, Bee Good’s products have developed from a simple lip balm and hand cream, to a full everyday skincare range. Each delicately decorated tube and pot is packed full of high quality, natural ingredients from the British countryside, with a passion for beehive preservation at its heart. This month, Helen tried their Honey & Propolis Cream Cleanser and Honey & Wild Flax Daily Moisturiser, both of which are absolutely delightful. The cleanser sinks into pores, and the muslin cloth drenched in warm water exfoliates gently, removing makeup and daily grime. Skin is left feeling wonderfully soft and fresh. The morning routine is finished off with the lightest moisturiser, of which a key ingredient is propolis – a natural source of vitamin E, well-known for its antibacterial properties.
