Lisa Edwards & BC “Rye,” High Combined Open Aussie: Salvatore
Manna & “Yogi,” Most Promising Started Aussie: Christi Claypool
“Bliss.”
May 5-7, we’ll be back with our High Sierra Summer Classic
Agility Trial. Pamela Bryant- Meeks has agreed to come west and
judge for us. This trial is always a winner as the weather at Fuji
Park is gorgeous, and there are so many fun things to do in Carson
City and nearby Lake Tahoe. This past year we added fencing to
our equipment list, so our Regular/Gamblers, and Jumpers rings are
fully enclosed now. The premium is on our website, www.nnasc.
com and we look forward to seeing you!
We are still working on what we’ll do for our annual High
Sierra Autumn Classic dates. This past year we had thought we’d
hold rally/obedience trials in October, but changed our minds to
agility. Susan Perry graciously accepted our request to judge. We
were lucky she’s from northern Washington, otherwise all the rain
would have washed anyone else away! Susan was such a trooper
and never complained! We also had an Iron Woman as Chief Course
Builder, our president, Denise Terry. Our club worked very hard
and the out-of-town handlers were unceasing with their help. Can
you believe, this unseasonable weather was the only inclement
weekend in the entire month!
Please go to our website, or come join us on facebook, at
Northern Nevada Australian Shepherd Club to keep posted on our
activities and events; and when we decide soon what we’re going
to do this next October we’ll post it immediately.
2016 was a wonderful year for our Greatest Little ASCA Club,
and we want to thank everyone who helped us with our events. We
always appreciate that none of this would be possible without our
wonderful Australian Shepherds and our parent club.
Hello, fellow Aussie enthusiasts. Another year has gone by in
a blink of an eye and we are into the 2017 show year. Ocean View
ASC successfully hosted 20 sanctioned Conformation shows in
2016. We welcomed several new members into the club last year,
Susi Rowley, Colleen Jeffers, Dior de Moraes, Kelly Sweeney, and
Aaron Dalke.
In January, Ocean View rang in the New Year hosting four
conformation shows. The weather was perfect all weekend and
we had a very nice turnout dogs for Intact and Altered classes.
Several dogs also completed their ASCA championships over the
weekend. TCASWA hosted a day of Obedience and a day of Rally
in conjunction with our conformation shows. New Obedience and
Rally titles were completed by a few dogs over the weekend and
a great time had by all.
It was a beautiful, warm spring weekend for our March Spring
fling shows. We had a wonderful turn out of exhibitors. The Junior
Handlers were awesome as always. What a great group of kids. A
special “thank you” to AKC judge Janice McClary for filling in on
such short notice for our Saturday morning conformation show.
The June Picnic in the Park event was a huge success.
We tried a new location at Buena Park High School this year.
It was awesome on the football field. The weather was typical
June gloom, a little drizzle on Saturday. Overall it kept it nice
and cool for the weekend. We joined forces with two other clubs
to have Conformation, Obedience, Rally and Agility. We had 5-
point majors in the Intact divisions for all but one show. Rally and
Obedience trials were hosted by Tri County Australian Shepherd
Working Association (TCASWA). The Agility trial was hosted
by Dan Roy of Performance Dog Training. Thank you again
TCASWA and Performance Dog Training for combining efforts
with us to make another weekend of spectacular events. Thank
you so much. We appreciate these two clubs combining efforts
with us.
Our annual Aloha Social, Hawaiian-themed show, is always
held in August. Great dogs and great friends always make for a
perfect weekend. The weather was beautiful and we had a great
turnout of exhibitors, with majors all four days in the Intact
classes. This year we provided lunch for all the exhibitors, both
days, instead of trophies. It was a huge hit with everyone! Thank
you, Gabi Kiertzner and Sherry Fox, for organizing this amazing
buffet. A special thanks to Richard Pittman for judging last minute
when one of our judges had a family emergency.
November ended our show season with our Fall Spectacular
shows. As usual we had spectacular fall weather and a
wonderful out of exhibitors. We had several dogs complete their
championships and move up to the Best of Breed class. Many
thanks go out to all the exhibitors and judges who have supported
our events the past year.
Quite a few of our members attended the 2016 ASCA National
