was not a single application. ZS4JAN applied in 2007. The third applicant arrived in 2009.<br />
Clearly, WAZS-500 is not a trivial achievement. However, the 2010 calendar year saw an<br />
unbelievable five applications! The leading station is now over the 1000 mark, with three stations<br />
over 600.<br />
A decade ago, confirming contacts with 500 ZS stations was hardly imaginable. Now, doing so is<br />
a very real operating target for many South Africans.<br />
The pages that follow chronicle operating achievement, service to amateur radio and service to the<br />
SARL in particular over more than half a century. Its publication on the Internet is a deliberate<br />
attempt to honour those achievements, but also to show what can be done. Especially the<br />
