launched HORIZONTE, a halfhour
program airing after
HORIZON on Thursday nights.
HORIZONTE provides a forum
for Hispanic perspectives and
helps inform all audiences
about issues of particular
interest to our Hispanic
community.
Using a variety of formats —
JoSÉ CÁRdEnAS, Host of Horizonte
interviews, taped segments followed by in-studio discussions and
roundtables with journalists or experts
on specific issues — HORIZON and HORIZONTE welcome a who’s who of Arizona politics and
community leaders. The reach and influence of the on-air broadcasts is expanded by their Web
sites, which provide program archives, RSS feeds, podcasts and online video.
Both of these local productions also provide valuable hands-on experience for students at the
Cronkite School who learn practical skills as they work on the technical crew and as associate
producers.
While viewers remain our most important critics, we are proud of the many awards we have
received from the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television
Arts & Sciences, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the American Bar Association,
Maricopa County Bar Association, Arizona Associated Press Broadcasters and the Arizona
Press Club.
