Report to the Community Be More - Eight, Arizona PBS

Dear Friends,
One of the most satisfying parts of my job is to spread the word about what Arizona PBS
means to the community and to keep people informed about new things that are happening
at Eight. But it’s also my responsibility to see that Eight, Arizona PBS, remains financially strong
so we can continue to provide these important and valuable services.
Part of our mission statement directs us to “promote and stimulate local culture and encourage
civic participation.” In 2008, to help advance this goal, we inaugurated the
Be More Awards to acknowledge the contributions and effectiveness of Arizona’s non-profit
organizations. At the awards luncheon on May 14, 350 guests strolled through a “Hall of
Heroes” showcasing the outstanding work of dozens of organizations before honoring eight
non-profits for outstanding achievement in social services, health care, education and the
performing and visual arts. As a result of the success of Eight’s 2008 Be More Awards, we plan
to make it an annual event.
Meanwhile, we continue to seek out ways for Eight to be more … by constantly looking for
ways make Arizona a better place to live for families, and especially for children, through
quality PBS and local programs and outreach activities. We also take advantage of our ties
to Arizona State University to find new and constructive ways to support Arizona’s business
community.
We are always mindful that all our accomplishments, as well as our plans for the future,
depend on the support of our viewers and friends. Because of your financial commitment to
Eight, not only will we meet our responsibilities today, but we can be more in the years ahead.
