I-Valo manufactures indoor and outdoor luminaires for all kinds of<br />

applications in factories, as well as in homes and public buildings.<br />

I-Valo's services range from light planning to luminaires ready for<br />

installation. The solutions are based on decades of experience,<br />

active product development and modern production technology.<br />

The operations are also controlled by standardised quality and<br />

environmental systems.<br />

Improved production technology has resulted in extremely durable,<br />

energy-effi cient and easy-to-maintain luminaires. Planning and<br />

implementing the most reasonable solution from the point of<br />

view of the life cycle requires strong expertise. I-Valo is an expert in<br />

lighting solutions.


• I-Valo Ltd was founded in 1971 to develop,<br />

manufacture and market luminaires.<br />

• The company’s product range comprises industrial<br />

luminaires, as well as luminaires for homes and public<br />

buildings.<br />

I-Valo has manufactured luminaires since 1971. During<br />

a nearly 40 year period, it has delivered thousands of<br />

diff erent lighting solutions to all kinds of applications.<br />

The starting point of the solutions to be implemented<br />

is always based on customer need, and I-Valo's experts<br />

plan all solutions with energy-effi ciency, appropriateness<br />

and external appearance in mind.<br />

Correct lighting contributes to well-being and is part<br />

of a company's eff ective operation. I-Valo continuously<br />

develops its products in cooperation with its customers<br />

and partners.<br />

I-Valo's modern production technology provides many<br />

diff erent options and combinations by means of which<br />

individual and creative packages can be tailored from<br />

The roots of I-Valo's luminaire design extend to the<br />

famous Iittala glass factory, which is located only a stone's<br />

throw away from the I-Valo factory. Design is an important<br />

part of I-Valo's products and more and more emphasis is<br />

placed on it. I-Valo's production plant is located in Iittala,<br />

within the Hämeenlinna municipality. A signifi cant part of<br />

production is exported around the world.


Energy-effi ciency for demanding<br />

operating conditions<br />

I-Valo wishes to off er its customers lighting solutions<br />

with aff ordable life-cycle costs.<br />

In the example below, the lighting level of Wibe<br />

AB's factory in Sweden was almost tripled by<br />

replacing the old luminaires with high-quality I-Valo<br />

luminaires. Despite this, energy savings of 20% were<br />

achieved. If the lighting level had been kept the<br />

same, switching to I-Valo luminaires would have<br />

generated a 60% energy saving for the customer. By<br />

increasing the lighting level, the company achieved<br />

better occupational safety and comfort in addition<br />

to energy savings.<br />

Filter technology<br />

Filter technology and the highbay dust rims prevent luminaires from becoming dirty<br />

and reduce maintenance needs. When these features are combined with a high light<br />

output ratio (LOR) and an eff ective light source, there is no need to set the number of<br />

required luminaires too high when calculating the lighting level of an application.<br />

I-Valo's basic model is a closed, air-pressure tested luminaire equipped with an<br />

eff ective fi lter that cleans the pressure equalisation air fl owing into the luminaire.<br />

Thus, the inside of the luminaire remains completely clean. The metal dust rim<br />

surrounding the front glass creates under the glass an air cushion that prevents<br />

the glass from becoming dirty due to external impurities. Together, these<br />

features ensure that the luminosity of the luminaire is maintained even in diffi cult<br />

operating conditions.<br />

Dust fi lter<br />

I-Valo's lowbays, fl uorescent luminaires<br />

and regular luminaires are equipped<br />

with dust fi lters that fi lter dust particles<br />

and impurities larger than 0.01 µm.<br />

Double-eff ect fi lter<br />

I-Valo's horizontal luminaires and<br />

fl oodlights are equipped with a<br />

double-eff ect fi lter. In addition to<br />

dust, the double-eff ect fi lter also<br />

fi lters caustic gases.<br />

Goretex fi lter<br />

The Gore fi lter fi lters water and dust<br />

and eff ectively protects luminaires<br />

from impurities.


Lighting planning<br />

Familiarity with the premises and processes of diff erent branches<br />

of business is a prerequisite for optimal lighting planning.<br />

I-Valo's employees have strong experience in planning diff erent<br />

demanding lighting projects for both indoor and outdoor spaces.<br />

3D lighting plans<br />

I-Valo uses the independent DIALux lighting planning<br />

programme, which does not depend on luminaire<br />

manufacturers and makes the visualisation of lighting<br />

plans possible.<br />

As a result of visualised lighting calculation results,<br />

the eff ects of diff erent solutions and options are<br />

easily evaluated. A CAD layout in DXF or DWG format<br />

can be imported in the programme to facilitate the<br />

placement of lighting-aff ecting fi ttings, process<br />

devices, maintenance platforms, stairways, etc.<br />

The results of a complete lighting plan can be<br />

visualised in a 3D view at diff erent levels. The lighting<br />

planning software can be downloaded free of charge<br />

at www.dial.de<br />

Pro luminaires<br />

The design of the Pro luminaire series is suitable for homes and public<br />

buildings and is ideal for both high and low spaces. Effi cient compact<br />

fl uorescent lamps are used in the luminaires. The Pro luminaire series<br />

consists of pendant luminaires, recessed luminaires, ceiling luminaires<br />

and wall luminaires of diff erent sizes. The fact that Pro luminaires are<br />

available with diff erent light distributions and controls means increased<br />

versatility.<br />

All Pro luminaires contain electronic control gears (HF) or<br />

dimmable electronic control gears (HFDIM). Dimmable<br />

luminaires are controlled by an analogue 1–10V DC<br />

controller. Also available with dimmable digital ballasts.<br />

Diff erent light distribution solutions of luminaires of the<br />

same size have been implemented using diff erent diff users<br />

or combinations of them that can be modifi ed even after<br />

installation.<br />

Pro luminaires are excellent for demanding lighting solutions<br />

both together with and as individual luminaires.<br />

Globe luminaires<br />

The design of the globe luminaire with opal glass diff user is an absolute<br />

classic in the luminaire world. Globe-shaped luminaires have been used<br />

almost since the invention of the incandescent lamp and will continue to<br />

be used as basic or decorative luminaires for all kinds of spaces, even when<br />

incandescent lamps will no longer be in use. New and diff erent light sources,<br />

new ballasts and materials only widen the range of use of the luminaire.<br />

Among the features of a globe luminaire with opal diff user,<br />

omnidirectionality is especially noteworthy. In most cases,<br />

omnidirectionality can be seen as the uniformity of fl oor and<br />

working surface lighting, as well as of wall or even ceiling<br />

lighting. There are no strong luminosity diff erences that<br />

disturb the eyes and vision is easier in all respects.<br />

I-Valo's globe luminaires are available in four diff erent sizes,<br />

two diff erent body colours and two diff erent suspension<br />

types (rod and cable). The light sources used are compact<br />

fl uorescent lamps equipped with electronic control gear<br />

(also dimmable) and light sources according to the power<br />

Sol luminaires<br />

The versatile and solid Sol luminaires, created in cooperation with Finnish<br />

architects and electrical designers, combine classic shapes, correct size and<br />

proportions, and are the right choice for demanding general lighting tasks. Sol<br />

luminaires are half fl ush or surface mounted on either the ceiling or a wall. Sol<br />

accessories belonging to the series provide diversity in external appearance,<br />

add mechanical strength and, if necessary, facilitate installation.<br />

These splash-proof and double-insulated luminaires made of<br />

impact-resistant polycarbonate are suitable for both dry and humid<br />

spaces (both indoors and outdoors). The body is available in white,<br />

brass and chrome.<br />

In the luminaire series, new additions are Sol 773 and Sol 782LED,<br />

which have been developed especially for situations where the<br />

luminaire has to be turned on rapidly and frequently and effi cient<br />

lighting is required (e.g., for stairwells). The Sol 773 also functions<br />

well in cold outdoor temperatures. Sol 782LED uses the latest light<br />

source technology, which helps achieve low energy consumption,<br />

good light production and long LED life. In addition, it is also<br />

possible to turn the light on rapidly and frequently.<br />

The accessories designed for the Sol series facilitate installation,<br />

protect the luminaires and give them a new and stylish look<br />

according to the needs of the diff erent environments of use.<br />

and outdoors. Thanks to their fl at and<br />

timeless design, resistance against vandalism<br />

and diff erent colour and installation<br />

options, excellent applications<br />

include, for example, entrance halls,<br />

corridors, washrooms, showers, dressing<br />

rooms, living rooms, hobby rooms,<br />

Sol 782LED is also especially suited to<br />

Duo luminaires<br />

The versatile and durable Duo luminaires, which have been created in cooperation with<br />

architects and electrical designers, also provide the right wall luminaire solution for<br />

demanding outdoor lighting.<br />

The splash-proof (IP44) Duo luminaires, with their steel bodies and<br />

impact-resistant polycarbonate diff users, are highly suitable for the entire<br />

constructed environment (both outdoors and indoors). If necessary, they are<br />

Iittala bollards<br />

Due to their timeless design, Iittala bollards are suitable for the outdoor lighting of<br />

public buildings, as well for as one-family houses.<br />

The beautiful and glareless light is also highly suitable for squares and shore areas.<br />

Iittala bollards<br />

Iittala bollards are made of polyester-fi nished aluminium, so they are corrosionresistant<br />

and have a long life. Iittala bollards mainly have rotationally symmetrical<br />

light distribution directed downwards from the horizontal plane.<br />

The part directed upwards gives a backlight that slightly emphasises the<br />

surrounding structures and vegetation.<br />

The luminaires are 1.2 m or 70 cm high. The luminaires can also be equipped with a<br />

Schuko socket with hinged lid and can then also be used, for example, as a current<br />

generator for the garden or a car engine and interior heater.<br />

Marine bollards<br />

I-Valo's marine bollards are very luminous bollards<br />

designed for the needs of electricity and water<br />

distribution. The main areas of application are quaysides,<br />

harbour areas, camp sites and caravan parks. The<br />

luminaire uses an 80 W mercury-vapour lamp.<br />

The bollards are 1.2 m high and can be equipped with<br />

two CEE socket outlets and one water tap. The luminaires<br />

include socket outlet-specifi c (automatic) circuit breakers<br />

and residual current circuit breakers.<br />

Luminaire body is entirely made of chromated<br />

aluminium. As a result, it is also suitable for use in a<br />

brackish water environment. For wooden jetties, the<br />

luminaire has a square mounting fl ange with a larger<br />

mounting surface.<br />

Modern design, resistance to vandalism and many lamp and colour<br />

alternatives make Beo bollards an excellent luminaire for demanding<br />

public buildings and private use. The luminaires are suitable for both<br />

indoor and outdoor use.<br />

Finland and, with their class 3, they are the most vandalismproof<br />

I-Valo's industrial luminaires have been planned with particular<br />

attention to their suitability for high ambient temperatures, humid<br />

and dusty applications, and for premises which have impurities<br />

in the air. The luminaires are easy to install and maintain, and the<br />

I-Valo's horizontal luminaire family<br />

includes fl oodlights that are well-suited<br />

for demanding industrial spaces, where<br />

high temperatures and/or impurities<br />

in the air (dust, gases) challenge the<br />

structure of the luminaire.<br />

The structure of the fl oodlights in the<br />

horizontal luminaire family is very fi rm,<br />

low and strong. Epoxy coating protects<br />

the aluminium frame from corrosion,<br />

the dust rim of the luminaire prevents<br />

the front glass from soiling and the<br />

double-eff ect fi lter keeps the inside<br />

of the luminaire clean. This way the<br />

luminaire retains its high light output<br />

ratio even in the most demanding<br />

conditions, and there is no need to use<br />

an excessive number of luminaires.<br />

Moreover, long service intervals and<br />

quick lamp changes guarantee an<br />

Track mounting system<br />

A track mounting system has been<br />

developed to facilitate service. The<br />

system allows the luminaires to be<br />

transferred to the service area on a<br />

track rail, and back again after service.<br />

Track mounting system for less than 8 luminaires:<br />

- If 8 luminaires are mounted behind one winder, the winder can be used to transfer the<br />

luminaires to service area and back<br />

Track mounting system for more than 8 luminaires:<br />

- There are also mechanisms suited for transferring more than 8 luminaires with one winder,<br />

but then a diff erent kind of winder needs to be used. In this case, the luminaires are manually<br />

pulled into the service area and brought back using a winder. These need to be discussed on a<br />

case-by-case basis<br />
