newest production technology
in wolfen: Bending roBot
TOP-NOTCH TECHNOLOGY
Is EXPANDED THROUGH THE
BENDING ROBOT
As was announced in the previous issue
of the WIESHEU news (Edition 02/11),
the wave of investments at the production
site in Wolfen continues. As one of
the “most productive punch machines in
the world”, theTruPunch 5000 has joined
– as planned – since the 2nd quarter, a
bending press and not just any but the
TruBend 5170.
Strictly speaking, this is the TruBend Cell
5000, an optimised machinery concept
by the Trumpf company. It combines the
components of a bending press, TruBend
5170, BendMaster 60 and Software
TruPops Bend. The bent angle sensor
ACB®, i.e., the control to the BendMaster,
must be mentioned here. All these
components come from one source and
are optimally matched to each other.
The bending press reaches a pressing
force of 1,700 KN and a bending
length of 4,250 mm. The edge
clearance is kept very generous with
a flat front cover. The press works
with a measurement system using
glass encoders and spring suspension
compensation as well as other
modern technologies and equipment
details.
The heart of the bending unit, the
BendMaster, takes over the job of the
automated bending and works with
parts up to a weight of 40 kg. In addition
to the process-secure sensors,
the simple offline programming and
its high flexibility through the vacuum
gripping technology, there is another
not insignificant aspect: the simplification
of work. Heavy pieces don‘t have
to be lifted up and moved onto the
press during the bending process. The
machinery running times have increased
with a simultaneous increase in accuracy.
As with the TruPunch 5000, programmes
can be uploaded which then work nights
completely automatically and unmanned.
For the BendMaster’s process safety, an
optical sheet sensor is crucial. It is equipped
with two digital cameras, a cross
laser diode and four light sources and
calculated in two steps – first the coarse
and then the fine position recognition –
the part position. In this way, an elaborate
centring of the sheet stack is not necessary
because the sensors are set to the
position of the sheet. In addition, time is
saved because the BendMaster begins
directly to bend the sheet immediately
after picking it up and not first after the
detour to a centring station.
The punch TruPunch 5000 and the bending
robot TruBend Cell 5000, of course
place new demands on the workers
– know-how requires the corresponding
knowledge. On the one hand, the
physical stress is reduced, on the other
hand, the high technology requires very
well trained and educated machine operators.
The training of several employees
has been done and processes have been
optimised. And that over and over again.
