Experience and interests
Field-work: Six years of regional to local geologic field mapping and structural,
stratigraphic and sedimentologic outcrop analyses (structural data acquisition,
stratigraphic logs measurement, etc.) in the Northern Apennines (Italy) and Southcentral
Pyrenees (Spain).
Structural geology: Accretionary prisms dynamics, shallow crustal level tectonic
mechanics, soft sediment deformation processes, tectonic-sedimentary interactions
and structural interpretations on mass transport deposits, integrated with seismic and
acoustic geophysical observations.
Sedimentology and stratigraphy: Intraslope basin dynamics, siliciclastic, mixed fluviodeltaic
and deep-water sedimentary processes, sedimentary mass transport
mechanics, detailed facies associations and depositional architecture mapping, and
high resolution stratigraphic interpretations, integrated with seismic and acoustic
geophysical observations.
Mineralogy and geochemistry: Qualitative petrographic, sedimentological and microstructural
optical microscopy of siliciclastic sediments and clay minerals
diffractometry (smectite/illite, chlorite, vitrinite) for thermal maturity and diagenetic
degree analyses.
