Choosing a school for your child, whether
primary or secondary, is an important
decision. In Essex, there is a wide choice
for parents, including independent,

When making a decision, it will help
to gather as much information as you
can, make comparisons, read school

visit open days. Most schools run open
days or evenings at least once a year.

Chelmsford County High School for Girls
CCHS is a selective state school. Children who wish to enter
Year 7 take an entrance test, which is designed to identify those
girls who have the ability to thrive in an academic school.
A child does not require tutoring to be successful in the test, in
fact, they actively discourage it. They recommend that parents use
the familiarisation paper available on the school’s website to inform
their child of the type of questions she will be answering. The test
distinguishes between an average
ability child who has been tutored,
and an able one who has not. It is
the latter who will be successful
and enjoy life at CCHS.
