Get ready for St Helena
Hospice Bubble Rush!
Join in at High Woods Country Park on Saturday
17th June for a fun-filled bubbly day for the whole
family! The course features a 5k route with four
bubble stations along the way where cannons
pump out coloured bubbles.
All ages and all abilities are
welcome to run, jog, walk
or toddle through the foam…
even dance if you want to.
All they ask is that you
have lots of fun! At the
start of the run there will
be a bubble village where
registration takes place, in
the village you’ll find face
painting, a bouncy castle,
food to nibble on and the
very popular bubble photo
booth where you can dress
up and have your photo taken.
Spectators can watch you set off for
the course from there and cheer you when you return!

Want better
emergency services
for your children?
Essex could be the first in the UK
to have a Police, Fire and Crime
Commissioner. The Police and Crime
Commissioner for Essex, Roger Hirst is
running a public consultation on the way
Essex Police and Fire & Rescue Services
are run in the future. The new Policing
and Crime Act 2017 allows PCCs to
explore taking on fire & rescue as well as
police. This means that services will be
able to work better together and share
resources to help keep Essex safer.
There are three options to consider and
the people of Essex are being asked to
consider all three and answer a couple
of questions. There’s a four minute film

Family fun at Stow
Maries Great War
Aerodrome
Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome
near Maldon (just off the A414) is a
secret gem! It is the only remaining
Great War aerodrome in the world
that is still functioning. It’s the
home of a huge £24 million project
to return it to its former glory and
houses new museum exhibitions,
real flying period aircraft, a wartime
Airmen’s Mess Café and shop. With
free tours, it’s a great place to learn
all about the fighting in the clouds
during the Great War!
There are lots of great activities
going on at the aerodrome for
families over Easter. As well as the
usual exhibitions, interactive displays
and aircraft, there will be activities for
children exploring flight and rockets
as well as model making.
Forthcoming events include their
annual Mother’s Day afternooon tea
and entertainment on 26th March
and ‘Wings and Wheels’ on 21st
May - a fantastic family fun day
where the aerodrome marries planes
with cars! The aerodrome is in a
nature reserve so keep an eye out
for the owls – stars of Springwatch!
