future that is worth living.
Here in the Green Tech Valley you will ind the
highest concentration of companies and research
institutions in the ield of the advanced energy and
environmental technologies, making it the hotspot
for launching your own innovations.
Take advantage of this global Centre of Excellence
for your environmental investments or development
projects. The Eco World Styria cluster can act as your
partner in the search for appropriate technologies
in the ields of Green Energy, Green Resources and
Green Buildings and will help you establish bilateral
Green Tech is the major source of strength of the southern Austrian
state of Styria and is the environmental industry powerhouse. The
companies of this Green Tech Valley span global borders through
knowledge, expertise and action, constantly developing advanced
products and services, which make them successful both in
international and home markets. Over the past 8 years, the turnover in
environmental technology has risen on average by 14 % per annum.
The economic strength and the outstanding R&D ratio of 4.8 % of
GRP are based on excellent collaboration between universities and
industry. This gives you as the customer and cooperation partner the
certainty of buying products and services that are reliable and at the
cutting edge of technology. To promote this success story further, the
department of economics sets a clear focus on reinforcing this source
of green strength through the Eco World Styria cluster.
Yours sincerely, Dr. Christian Buchmann
Member of the Styrian Provincial Government for Economy,
Europe, Culture and Tourism
The 21 st century is the century of resources: Soil, water, air, energy and
the climate are the basis of existence for us and our future generations.
Quite rightly Styria is known as the green heart of Europe and through
its countless pioneering projects the federal state is characterized by
sustainable economic activity and research: be it landills which can
yield valuable resources, buildings that produce energy instead of
consuming it or the use of regional renewable biomass instead of fossil
fuels. The strong innovative force of the companies within the Eco
World Styria cluster thus ensures a globally healthy environment and
economic success as well.
Yours sincerely, Johann Seitinger
Member of the Styrian Provincial Government for Agriculture
and Forestry, Water and Waste Management, Residential
Construction and Sustainability
The social market economy has resulted in unprecedented wealth in
Austria. However, in order to “secure the peace and the integrity of
creation” (Friedrich v. Weizsäcker), we must expand these social aspects
by ecology. For that, it needs innovation, in particular in the energy
sector, and creative companies, which join forces with the universities’
research facilities – which is successfully propagated by our Eco
World Styria.
Yours sincerely, Mag. Siegfried Nagl
Mayor, City of Graz
GREEN RESOURCES – world champion
in recycling technologies
Styria is populated by collectors and recyclers. This is relected by the highest material
recycling rate in Europe at over 70 % as companies have developed leading technologies
in the processing and sorting of wastes and residues. This makes it possible to direct
material low into a meaningful cycle and use this to create added value.
Active Landill Mining
Twenty enterprises and research institutions
from the Green Tech Valley are working on
landill reclamation. Producing and utilizing
raw materials reclaimed from landills is both
unique and pioneering. Older landills, in
particular, contain materials which can be
reused in view of the growing demand for
resources. Consequently, landills become the
future stock of raw materials.
