FOUNDATION APPRENTICESHIP<br />
IN BUSINESS SKILLS – SCQF 6<br />
This two year <strong>Foundation</strong> <strong>Apprenticeship</strong> is designed to provide<br />
pupils with a range of bus<strong>in</strong>ess and IT skills allow<strong>in</strong>g them to apply a<br />
solutions-based approach to improv<strong>in</strong>g bus<strong>in</strong>ess processes and to work<br />
logically and methodically to pre- set deadl<strong>in</strong>es.<br />
In addition to formal college tuition, time will be devoted to work<br />
related experience <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g work placements, work shadow<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
<strong>in</strong>dustry talks, <strong>in</strong>dustry visits and work related tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g.<br />
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS<br />
The <strong>Foundation</strong> <strong>Apprenticeship</strong> <strong>in</strong> Bus<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>Skills</strong> is for pupils <strong>in</strong> S5 and<br />
Students should have a proven <strong>in</strong>terest <strong>in</strong> at least one of the follow<strong>in</strong>g<br />
areas: bus<strong>in</strong>ess processes, procurement, entrepreneurship, account<strong>in</strong>g<br />
or management.<br />
A m<strong>in</strong>imum of four passes <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g English and either Maths or a<br />
Bus<strong>in</strong>ess subject at National 5 level or equivalent is required for entry.<br />
Pupils will also be required to provide a personal statement on what<br />
attracts them to bus<strong>in</strong>ess why they want to become <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> the<br />
Bus<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>Skills</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> <strong>Apprenticeship</strong>.
