Cathedral of Trani Cathedral of Trani DAY 6 CASTEL DEL MONTE - UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE AND TRANI - CITY OF THE STONE For the last day of your holiday, after breakfast the transfer will take you to Castel del Monte and Trani. Its difficult to describe in words the beauty of these places. Castel del Monte, usually described as “the most fascinating castle built by Frederick II of Swabia”, is another site recognized by UNESCO’s World Heritage. It is universally considered an example of genius medieval architecture because it combines elements of several architectural styles and traditions of different historical periods. It is possible to notice this in the Romanesque lines of the lions at the entrance to the Castle, in the Gothic frames of the towers, in the classic movement of its internal decoration and in the Islamic refinement of its mosaic.
