A LETTER FROM OUR HEADTEACHER - MR I SMITH

ETONE CHOIR PERFORMS AT
BEDWORTH CIVIC HALL
ENGLISH MASTER CLASS
“On the 22 nd March the choir went with Ms Hewitt and Miss
Shepheard to the Bedworth Civic Hall to perform in the
‘School’s Gotta Sing’ concert.
Many schools performed, including St. Francis, Stockingford
and Higham Lane along with the Cantabile Youth Choir
which has Jessica Williams from Year 12 as a member. We
really enjoyed seeing the other choir’s performances and the
wide variety of talent in the show.
We performed in the second half of the show singing
‘Heaven’, ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ and ‘Royals’. We think we
performed well and we had lots of compliments from the
other schools and the parents in the audience.
Overall the experience was fun (although a bit nerve
wracking) and we really enjoyed it. We hope to do
something like this again soon.”

After some delicious sausage
sarnies for breakfast the Year
11 Master Class focused on the
underlying themes within each
of the Literature texts, along
side the requirements to
achieve top marks in each
exam.
Memory was tested when
trying to recall quotations to
use for section B, with prizes
for the most accurate and
v a r i e d . P u p i l s wo r ke d
collaboratively to plan
responses to exam style
questions, produced colourful
sample paragraphs as a group
(ticking all the right boxes on
the mark scheme!) and
constructed some brilliant
independent work to finish off
a successful day. An obvious
understanding of the mark
scheme was demonstrated by
the group when peer assessing
each other’s work and pride
was taken in achieving higher
marks and having developed
their knowledge.
Finally, the group got creative,
m a k i n g c o l o u r f u l a n d
memorable flashcards for their
modern drama texts, whilst
utilising the skills they had
refined throughout the day.
