Welcome!
In 1983, the fi rst French Congress of our association was
held, when WAIMH was named World Association for
Infant Psychiatry and Applied Disciplines (WAIPAD). It
was a major event that aroused considerable interest in
the new developments in the areas of infancy research,
early development, parent-infant interaction, and early
psychopathology. France had some pioneers in the fi eld, such
as Geneviève Appell, Jenny Aubry, Myriam David, Françoise
Dolto, Alice Doumic- Girard, Léon Kreisler, Serge Lebovici, and
Michel Soulé, among others.
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the Paris Congress
is happy and proud to greet colleagues from all of Europe
and from all over the world. WAIMH has developed into local,
regional, national, and international branches, including
European and South American, and now covers most of the
cultures of the world.
Paris is a cosmopolitan capital, comprising a great melting pot
of populations. It has a long tradition of being welcoming and of
providing asylum, and is the seat of Francophone WAIMH.
This Congress will be held at the Cité des Sciences (The City
of Sciences), a public facility that has, for several years, been
a highly valued location for scientifi c congresses. It is also very
popular for its scientifi c exhibitions for adults and children,
and for its Geode movie theater and animations for children.
Located inside Paris, on the banks of a typically Parisianlooking
canal (Saint Martin), the City of Sciences is situated in
the middle of a very pleasant and safe park, with lots of hotels
of different categories in the vicinity. One can have lunch inside
the Cité des Sciences or in the numerous restaurants nearby.
The Local Organizing Committee, along with our Conference
organizer, BCA, will do all it can to make this Congress in Paris,
exciting and memorable.

En 1983 avait lieu à Cannes le premier congrès de notre
association, alors la WAIPAD, en France. Ce fut un événement
considérable, qui inaugura en France un grand intérêt vis à vis
du développement précoce, des interactions parents-enfant,
du développement et de la psychopathologie du jeune enfant.
La France avait des pionniers en la matière, avec Geneviève
Appell, Jenny Aubry, Myriam David, Françoise Dolto, Alice
Doumic -Girard Léon Kreisler, Serge Lebovici et Michel Soulé
notamment.
Le comité local d’organisation de ce congrès à Paris est
heureux et fi er d’accueillir les collègues de l’Europe et du
monde entier. La WAIMH s’est développée en organisations
régionales, nationales et européenne, qui couvrent maintenant
presque l’ensemble du monde et des cultures.
Paris est une capitale cosmopolite, avec un grand brassage de
population et une longue tradition d’accueil et d’asile, et le siège
de la WAIMH francophone.
Ce congrès aura lieu à la Cité des sciences de la Villette,
établissement public qui est devenue depuis plusieurs années
un lieu apprécié de congrès et un centre très prisé par les
adultes comme par les plus jeunes, pour ses expositions
scientifi ques, sa géode et ses animations pour les enfants.
Implantée dans Paris, sur les berges du canal Saint Martin, la
Cité des Sciences est située dans un parc sûr, avec nombre d’
hôtels de différentes catégories, et de grandes facilités pour les
repas dans le restaurant de la Cité ou aux alentours.
Le comité local d’organisation, et l’organisation, BCA, vont faire
de leur mieux pour vous permettre un séjour particulièrement
agréable à Paris, ainsi qu’un congrès stimulant dans une
ambiance agréable.
