Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC)<br />

celebrates “FFC Day” to commemorate<br />

laying of foundation stone of its first<br />

fertilizer plant at Goth Machhi on<br />

<strong>March</strong> 08, 1979. The celebration aims<br />

at sharing the story of successful<br />

business run through ethically correct<br />

and socially responsible business<br />

practices to the benefit of not only our<br />

business stakeholders but also for the<br />

people of Pakistan.<br />

FFC which started its 38 years long<br />

journey from a fertilizer plant has three<br />

plants now and is today the largest<br />

producer of urea in Pakistan with an<br />

aggregate urea production capacity of<br />

well over two million tonnes per<br />

annum.<br />

German Consulate<br />

visits FPCCI<br />

Mr. Alamgir Firoz, Chairman, Standing<br />

Committee on Environment and members<br />

of Pakistan-Germany Business Council of<br />

FPCCI welcomed Mr. Carsten Muller,<br />

Head of Mission of the German Consulate<br />

on his visit to Federation House, Karachi.<br />

Mr. Alamgir Firoz said that Germany is<br />

Pakistan’s largest trading partner among<br />

the EU countries. He said major items of<br />

Pakistan exports to Germany are textile<br />

and textile made-ups, leather goods,<br />

carpets, surgical instruments, cutlery, rice<br />

and horticulture products, whereas<br />

machinery, pharmaceuticals, motor<br />

vehicles, chemicals and dyes, iron and steel<br />

products, figure in imports.<br />

FFC fertilizer business has diversified<br />

by pioneering into wind energy in<br />

Pakistan (FFCEL), entering into<br />

banking sector by acquisition of Askari<br />

Bank and introducing state of the art<br />

food preservation technology (FFnF).<br />

The company has achieved long term<br />

credit rating of AA and short term rating<br />

of A1+ denoting high credit worthiness<br />

and very low expectation of credit risk<br />

strengthening the confidence of<br />

company's stakeholders.FFC has been<br />

r e c o g n i z e d f o r p r o f e s s i o n a l<br />

a c h i e v e m e n t s l o c a l l y a n d<br />

internationally and became the first<br />

Company ever to achieve six<br />

consecutive first positions on PSX's<br />

Top 25 company placements.<br />

FFC has been awarded for its business<br />

transparency and good corporate<br />

governance in South Asia by South<br />

Asian Federation of Accountants<br />

(SAFA). In recognition of its efforts<br />

towards community support and<br />

sustainable business practices United<br />

Nations Global Compact awarded<br />

FFC with Business Excellence Award.<br />

CE&MD appreciated the sheer hard<br />

work and dedication of previous and<br />

present leadership and employees in<br />

making FFC a brand for ethical and<br />

successful business nationally and<br />

internationally.<br />

Mr. Carsten Muller, Head of Mission of the<br />

German Consulate said that Pakistan is the<br />

important member of EU, many German<br />

companies are working in Pakistan for<br />

many years with major investments in<br />

Pakistan that include Linde, BASF, Bayer,<br />

Merck, Hoechst, Siemens and METRO.<br />

He emphasized that our business<br />

communities should increase the<br />

investment and avail opportunity of our<br />

good relations between the two countries.<br />

At the conclusion of the meeting Mr.<br />

Alamgir Firoz presented a Book and<br />

Report on Environment, Health and Safety<br />

to Mr. Carsten Muller, Head of Mission of<br />

the German Consulate.<br />
