Welcome
The Holy Remnant Apostolic Church
T
he Holy Remnant Apostolic Church is a place known for its’ strong biblical
standard. It’s a place where biblical principles are magnified and the love
of God is exercised. A church destined to change the lives of everyone
that comes through its’ doors. The leaders are doing their best to make
sure that the people are led in a godly path.
In the area of Malton (Mississauga), this church has
a reputation of being the real deal. What does that
mean exactly? Well, it is founded upon the birth,
death, burial, resurrection and ascension of our
Lord Jesus Christ. If the church’s foundation is
biblical, then the outcome is nothing short of
miraculous. It is not strange to see miracles in the
sanctuary, but what’s most rewarding, is the fact
that so many souls are being changed through this
ministry. Many people have asked our leaders what
have you done to make your church grow so
fast? They’ve often replied we can take no accolades
for the growth of Gods’ church; all we’ve done is live
a clean life before God. It was never necessary to do
anything other than teach and preach the word of God faithfully; after all we don’t know
another method. When you consider that this organization began with 12 people in a prayer
meeting in November 2006 in the basement of Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Williams’ house; it
makes you wonder if this type of growth is even possible. Not only is it possible but it’s just
a hint of what God has promised and you know that whatsoever the Lord has spoken shall
be brought to pass.
Still not convinced? Why don’t you stop by sometime and see what the Lord has in store for
you.
Bible Study
'Worship: Part 2'
2 Kings 20:1-7
Worship is where the ‘created’ catches a glimpse of the ‘creator’ expressed
in a divine way
Hezekiah was an example that we cannot worship with things in our lives
that are out of place; He was instructed to set his house in order
True worship is a life of commitment which gives the Holy Spirit room to
build
Music does not induce worship; God desires for our souls to grasp the full
glory of Him
If our next battle/victory is dependent on our worship, what are we ready
to give?
'Death Row'
Psalm 35:1-7
We often receive the gift (blessings) but not the giver (Jesus Christ)
God closes certain doors in our lives to let us know it's not the path for us
The enemy only pursues those with substance (John 10:10)
We must hide/protect the things within us that are valuable
The wicked attempt to capture the godly at the risk of losing their own lives
(Proverbs 1:17-18)
'Changing My Approach'
Exodus 3:1-5
All servants can be leaders, but not all leaders can be servants
Moses fled from his position and went into training while he was watching
Jethro's sheep
When we refuse to let go of where we are, we miss where God wants us to
be
Lack of faith is like bondage, because we don't let go of things God wants to
remove
God changes His approach when He spoke to Moses; sometimes God
distracts us first in order to speak
We need to approach our circumstance differently
'Going Deeper'
Ezekiel 47:1-5
There are four levels of depth in our walk with God: ankle deep, knee deep,
waist deep & fully submerged
Ankle deep: The beginning of our walk with God. People usually get stuck at
this point due to fear or comfort
Knee Deep: We have some control but still need to put away our wisdom
and control to seek Godly wisdom
Waist Deep: The point where you completely take your hands off of things
in your life, trusting & leaving it to God
Fully Submerged: Every aspect of your life is filled with God's presence
guiding & directing you
Sunday Sermon
'Breaking the Barriers of Stubborn Will'
1 Corinthians 14:1-2
Our stubbornness comes from a level of
contamination
We need to ask ourselves, what
contaminates us?
God wants us to desire His spiritual gifts
We must follow after love and desire
spiritual gifts in order to receive the
manifestation of the tongues
The power of our gifts is in the execution
'Diversion'
Genesis 27:6-17
The desire to drive you from what you
want to what God wants, is cause for a
diversion
Satanic diversion is only meant to divert
us from our purpose
Our purpose is making a dramatic
addition to the kingdom of God
We must speak a word of deliverance
over our passion, purpose & deliverance
Walking vigorously with Christ will allow
us to be strong & arrive at our purpose
'An Automatic Release'
Acts 12:1-17
All deliverance begins when you get rid of
pride
God hears our cry out to Him rather than
the commotion that we engage in
The enemy can lock down on everything
in our lives, but has no power to lock our
mouths
We must use our mouth to release
ourselves
When God moves, there is evidence of
light, life and love
Married, Single…Waiting
How long have you been married?
My name is Deaconess O. Powell and I am very proud to be a part of the
T.H.R.A.C. ministry. I have been married for many years.
What is the most memorable moment in your marriage?
In Matthew 19:5 it states, “For this cause shall a man leave father and mother,
and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh.” Cleaving to
someone indicates that there is a struggle before you are actually joined
together. This is why in a marriage vow, it asks for a man and a woman to
support each other in good times and bad times until death parts them. For me
to select the most memorable memory in my marriage I would find myself
being biased to that memory, as I would be leaving out all the other memories
that have helped to shape my marriage into what it is today. In a marriage
every memory is memorable and one thing that we should not forget is that
memories begin before the marriage vows are even spoken.
What did you learn from the most trying period of your marriage?
Becoming one with someone is not easily accomplished. It commands for you to
sacrifice some of the goals that you have set for yourself. It also calls for you to
not think selfishly and to share not only your physical assets, but also your
thoughts and feelings; this can be quite trying. However, if one is submitted to
God, then they would also be submitted to their husband. To submit to
someone would indicate evidence of love. I have learned to exercise the love of
God within my marriage. I bear witness to 1 Corinthians 13:7 which states that
"love beareth all things, believes all things, hopeth all things and endureth all
things."
What are some foundational characteristics that an individual must
possess before entering into marriage?
In Proverbs 18:22 it states, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains
favour from the Lord.” A lot of women today do
not understand that getting married does not
make them a wife. The word of God commands us
to submit to Him. It is in this submission that we
learn to attend unto the needs of God. If we are
able to honour these commandments, only then
can we fulfill all the other commandments which
God wants our hearts to be aligned with. The foundational characteristics an
individual must possess before entering into marriage will only come when they
When G
are able to submit to God. Submitting to God would evoke love for Him, love for
others and love for yourself. Love causes us to make sacrifices, which is a way
we practice how to give to others.
What advice would you give to newly married couples?
By Mother Powell
What advice would give to
single saints?
Becoming a wife or a husband is a
ministry that requires the complete
involvement of God in one’s life. It
is important to not rush this
ministry, as it can only be activated
by God. If you cannot submit to
God, then you won’t be able to
submit to anyone else. I encourage
saints to seek ye first the kingdom
of God, and his righteousness; and
all these things shall be added unto
you.
If you knew what you know
today about marriage, what
changes would you make?
God joins two people together, no
man can put that asunder. I am
glad that God is the head of my
marriage as I would change
absolutely nothing about it.
I encourage every newlywed couple to know that a marriage is a beautiful
journey to be on. It will only be a blessing to your union to have the
involvement of God in every aspect of your life. This means that in the good
Gtimes and the bad times you both run to God and each other, not to
man. Let the word of God and prayer be your portion to sustain you on your
journey.
Purpose: Navigating through the Path…
As children of God, many of
us have been told that
greatness is in us or we are
called to be of great influence in our
dispensation, and that we are created
to fulfill a purpose uniquely designed
for us. Yet we struggle in finding, and
navigating through the path that
would bring us to a place of
accomplishment.
Many are being deceived by the enemy
of our destiny, the accuser of the
brethren. He wants to have us believe
that we do not possess the spiritual
capacity to develop and become who
God has called us to be. The enemy
also tricks us to believe, that we are
restricted in our quest to fulfill our
divine destiny.
Scripture confirms that those whom
He (God) predestined, He also called;
the called were justified and the
justified was glorified. However, we
walk as some who have no spiritual
back bone or reliance on a power that
is greater than what we are in our
physical frame. God's intent was, that
now through the church, His manifold
wisdom should be made known to the
rulers and authorities in the heavenly
realms, according to his eternal
purpose that he accomplished in
Christ Jesus our lord.
The enemy will try everything in his
power to weaken the body of
believers to take us away from a place
of authority, and distort our belief
system. This is where we place little or
no credence in God, thus the
purposes of God be not accomplished
in earth, which can only be done through the body of believers.
By Minister James
God is willing, ready and waiting to perform what He has promised to do in
and for us. All He requires is a people with a firm trust and belief in Him.
Most of the limitations that have kept us from having confidence in God,
are illusions and limiting beliefs. Know this, confidence is not a fixed
attribute but it is the outcome of thoughts and actions. It is our belief in the
ability to achieve. Philippians 4:13 states "I have strength for all things in
Christ who empowers me. I am ready for anything and equal to anything
through Him who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in
Christ's sufficiency."
If only we can shatter those illusions and
work on deconstructing old thinking
patterns, we will be empowered to
accomplish anything we set our minds to
and change the trajectory of our lives.
Be strong, courageous, and firm; fear
not. Let your legacy be hewed from the
fulfilment of your Godly
accomplishments.
I've come to understand that the
reason so many people never
fulfill their purpose is not because
they lack opportunity, but it is
because there is a lack of faith in
or reliance in God. If we are ever
going to succeed in this race called
life, we need to place total
confidence in God.
Our life's journey can improve if
we begin to build our confidence
in the Most High God. Paul wrote
in Philippians 1:6 and said, "and I
am convinced and sure of this
very thing, that He who began a
good work in you will continue
until the time of His return,
developing that good work and
perfectly bringing it to full
completion in you.
What Keeps Me Saved
By: Deaconess Fennell
1. Get in the word of God every time you can because
knowledge is power.
The apostle Paul says, “Study to show yourself approve”.
2 Timothy 2:15
2. Develop a fear of God.
Fearing God makes you wise. You will abstain from
ungodly practices.
Psalm. 111:10; Proverbs. 1:7, 9:10
3. We should pray regularly.
It improves our connection with the creator,
prayer moved God to interfere in earths affairs.
1 Thessalonians 5:17
4. Live a repentful life.
When we sin we must repent of it, confess it, and pray to
God that we may be forgiven.
“Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God,
if perhaps the thought of our heart will be forgiven you”
Acts 8:22; John 1:8, 10; James 5:16 &19
5. We must desire to follow after the things of God.
The bible teaches, “There is therefore no condemnation to those who walk not after the flesh but according
to the spirit”
Romans 8:1, 8:13; Galatians. 5:19; 1 Corinthians. 9:27
The common misconception is that, “Once saved, always saved” but
this teaching is a lie form the pit of hell. In Matthew 7:21 "Jesus
states, not everyone who says “Lord Lord” shall enter the kingdom of
heaven but he who does the will of my father in heaven."
To stay saved we must live a life for God and seek Him in His word.
We must seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to apply the word to our
lives. To stay saved means giving up ourselves and desiring God's will
above all else. As we draw nearer to God and come to know Him, His
desires will naturally become ours.
As we mature, our desire to obey God's command increase and as our
love for Him increases. As Jesus said, “if you love me, you will obey
what I command” – John 14:15.
8
Obedience is the key!
SELF- ESTEEM
Esteem relates value because if you have low self-esteem
you'll feel like you have no value and vice versa.
Unfortunately, not everyone gets this realization so quickly
and often struggle with caring what others think right into
adulthood.
Our value should not be based on what society
says however, we often try to attain these standards based
on television and music. When we don't attain the values
that society sets in place, there's a feeling of inadequacy
causing us to struggle with our self-esteem.
Rejection plays both a positive and negative role
depending on the individual. It allows us the opportunity to
spend time trying to understand our identity & self-worth,
based on what others say and how we perceive ourselves.
This process can make or break our self-esteem. Race is a
factor that affects self-esteem because, as a black person
there's a push to accomplish/attain everything that society
says is important to compensate for ethnicity. If that
doesn't happen then there's a feeling of being inferior
based on how others treat you.
Most youth admit to having something that they would like
to change about themselves. However, some individuals
say that they don't struggle with confidence/appreciating
themselves because they've learnt to not care what others
think.
The values of society changes like seasons and following
after them will leave us confused. Therefore, we need to
find our own identity, self-esteem & value in Christ.
Cleaving to the word of God adds value to us and helps
shape us into the individuals that we were created to be.
It often starts in elementary school where you
are teased for little things (like you're too short, head too
big, etc.) and it continues through till high school. We often
have a wakeup call during that time and realize that what
others say doesn't matter. It's in the rejection/fault finding
of others that helps with the process of not caring what
others think.
Those closest to us are often the biggest culprits for
pointing out our flaws consistently. In doing so it chips
away at our self-esteem, but it's up to everyone to look to
the word of God to rebuild us. God fashioned us in his
likeness which is perfection and the only thing keeping us
from that perfected state is sin. We need to utilize the
word to remind ourselves that only God's opinion of us
matters.
Remember, people that point out the 'flaws' of others only
do so because of what that feel they lack as individuals.
Don't put more emphasis on physical attributes but rather
look to develop the internal characteristics through the
word which will in turn boost your self-esteem.
We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our
testimonies.
Du’Quan Roache
February 23 rd and 24 th
were the worst days of my
life. I came to this
conclusion because on the 23 rd
of February I found out that I
didn't make it into my dream
program at Humber College.
Then on 24 th of February, I also
found out that I was not
admitted to my desired
program.
Immediately, I remembered
being called stupid and dumb
for being IEP (Individualized
Education Program). I began to
regret trying in school and
denied my faith that whole
week.
“I truly hated the word faith”
…and when anyone would say
have “faith” I would
automatically block them out,
including my mother.
In the afternoon of February
24 th , my aunt emailed me a link
to a program that she
thought I should apply for.
I truly didn't want to, but I had a
thread of faith. So, I applied to
four schools. Though I had an
ounce faith, I prepared myself
for the worst "Dear Du’Quan
…We are unable to give you an
offer. All the best in your
studies”.
Sunday, February 26th, I truly
didn't want to go to church. All
week I had been debating if I
should or shouldn't attend.
“I truly thank God for Sunday,
February 26, 2017.”
From the beginning of church, I
thought it was worthless to
worship God. In my distracted
state, I saw how the Holy Spirit
touched my grandmother. This
was my first reality check.
My second reality check was the
sermon that Sunday "Diversion”
by Pastor S. Williams. This
message focused on being
redirected from your path of
success.
That Sunday night was Lord
Supper. I shared the events of
my week with my church family.
I declared at that moment that I
believed that God holds the
whole world in his hands.
The following week on Monday
and Tuesday I received four
offers from four different
colleges.
Therefore, let us truly give God
the glory and the praise. "Hold
on, for today might bring a
drought but if you believe, God
will hear your cry and bring a
flood of rain".
For I the LORD thy God will hold thy
right hand, saying unto thee, Fear
not; I will help thee. Isaiah 41:13
Dear Pastor
Q: I raised my children to fear the Lord. Lately' my
daughter has been straying. She is lashing out and
misbehaving in school. How do I reach my
daughter at this stage in her life?
Dear Parent,
First I must commend you for making a conscious
decision to raise your child in the fear of the Lord.
Secondly you are not the only parent having this
issue. It makes me wonder if the term "fear of the
Lord" has been properly interpreted by the church
community.
For most people; raising a child in the fear of the
Lord means that the child knows that there is a
God and the child is routinely taken to
church. However it is common that children will
listen to an adult that they rely on for survival this
does not mean they fear the Lord; I do hope this is
not the case with your daughter.
The true meaning of "the fear of The Lord" means
reverencing God with your life. Seek the counsel of
your leaders and have a heart to heart
conversation with your daughter.
It may be possible that she may feel neglected by
you if you have a busy schedule and her many
tantrums are a cry for attention. It is very essential
that your daughter feels the trust of those involved
in the intervention or she will not open up. Be
prepared to respond in love rather than
frustration; because the frustration of a parent is
often the reason why children do not open up to
them.
God bless you richly.
Microchips implanted in humans: Practical or perilous?
M
icrochips implanted in human
bodies could transform the way
we tackle many everyday tasks. Some workers
in Sweden are already volunteering to have
chips injected into their hands which can make
some tasks easier and reduce the amount of
personal items employees need to carry.
However, the controversial trend could put
your privacy at risk, reports CBS News
correspondent John Blackstone.
At a recent tech conference, Hannes Sjöblad
explained how a microchip implanted in his
hand makes his life easier. It replaces all the
keys and cards that used to clutter his pockets.
“I use this many times a day, for example, I use
it to unlock my smart phone, to open the door
to my office,” Sjöblad said. Sjöblad calls
himself a biohacker. He explained, “We
biohackers, we think the human body is a good
start but there is certainly room for
improvement.”
The first step in that improvement is getting a
microchip about size of a grain of rice slipped
under the skin. Suddenly, the touch of a hand is
enough to tell the office printer this is an
authorized user.
The microchips are radio frequency
identification tags. The same technology widely
used in things like key cards. The chips have
been implanted in animals for years to help
identify lost pets and now the technology is
moving to humans.
Tech start-up Dangerous Things has sold tens of
thousands of implant kits for humans and some
to tech companies in Europe.
Sjöblad said he even organizes implant parties
where people bond over getting chipped
together.
Even a car door can be tweaked to open with a
touch, but each touch leaves a digital footprint
which can compromise one’s privacy.
“This is serious stuff. We’re talking about a
nonstop potential connection to my body and I
can’t turn it off, I can’t put it away, it’s in me.
That’s a big problem,” said Ian Sherr, an
executive editor at CNET.
“It’s very easy to hack a chip implant, so my advice is don’t put your life secrets on an
implant, Sjöblad said.
Back in 2004, “The Manchurian Candidate” suggested a future where humans are
chipped and controlled.
“It’s about educating the people and giving every person the tools…not only how to use
the technology but, more importantly, when it’s being used against you,” Sjöblad
warned.
Biohackers also predict the next generation of chips will save lives by monitoring health
and fitness. For now, being chipped means never having to say you’re sorry you forgot
your keycard.
Through the lenses of the Word
With technology advancing on a daily basis, we're left to wonder what more can
possibly be done to make our lives easier.
CBS News recently reported of microchips being implanted in humans to help minimize
the hassle of everyday life. These microchips are radio frequency identification tags
similar to key cards that are implanted into the hand.
The rice grain sized microchip is geared towards making the lives of people easier by
storing information that is readily used in our daily routine. For example, car keys,
cellphone passwords, bank account info and much more. Although micro-chipping is
becoming a trend with implant parties and individuals volunteering to become a part of
the movement, we as children of God have been forewarned of this 'breakthrough'
technology.
The bible speaks of a time when the 'beast' which represents authority/government will
enforce control in every aspect of life upon all people, utilizing the mark of the beast
(666). Revelation 13:16-17, " And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor,
free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no
man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the
number of his name."
Often times the easiest way to get our society on the bandwagon of new technology is
the promise a simpler way to live and complete the tasks of daily life. This is the
loophole that Satan often uses to lure us into his greater plan which is, making sure
people step out of the will of God. However, we as kingdom citizens must rely on the
word of God to keep us from conforming to the expectation of the world & its
technology as perilous times have been promised before Christ triumphant return.
Christ reminds us that we must "[…] whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the
same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world."-1 Peter 5:9Be
reminded that in order to stand strong during the fight for our souls in the last days, we
must remain diligent in prayer and seeking after God.
Don't put God first, make Him your everything, He will allow you to be an overcomer!
