Government Affairs Council THE LEGISLATIVE CORNER Anita Laruy Chair, Government Affairs Council The 2017 legislative session is almost at its half point. There are many bills that may affect you or your business. The following is a list of some of the bills SB 99 – Revises provisions relating to taxation. SB 126 – Would use up to $10 million in bonds to create a fund to provide loans to businesses owned by women and minorities. SB 147 – Authorizes tax credits for employers who assist employees in finding and paying for day care. SB 196 – Would mandate that businesses with 50 or more employees would have to provide paid sick leave. Workers would earn one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked and could access this benefit after being on the job 90 days. SB 265 – Mandates pharmaceutical companies to refund Nevadans for overpriced American insulin. It would also require manufacturers to disclose the costs of all research, materials, manufacturing and administrative expenses that go into producing drugs for diabetics. AB 35 – Makes various changes relating to insurance. AB 172 – Revises provisions governing business entities. AB 211 – Revises provisions governing compensation and wages. AB 281 – Revises provisions governing the filing of a commerce tax return. AB 283 – Revises provisions governing business entities. AB 402 – The “pink tax” on feminine hygiene products. It would ask voters to decide if such products should be exempted from the sales tax. AB 436 – Revises provisions governing small business loans. AB 441 – Revises provisions relating to taxes.
