Proposed Design of Arts District Mural
The Borough of Glassboro recently funded The Robins’ Nest Mosaic Family Success Center with an
arts grant of $10,000 to support a mosaic mural project to be led by world-renowned artist Isaiah Zagar
and created with community members. The Mosaic Family Success Center is a mainstay of both the
community of Glassboro and the Arts and Entertainment District on East High Street. The mosaic will
be designed by Isaiah Zagar to involve the community in a creative place-making project that will
establish the identity of the Center and its commitment to enhancing the quality of life through
creativity and the arts.

together for a shared mission to make an important statement about the
importance of community. We hope the mural will raise awareness of the Arts &
Entertainment District and serve as a spark for other large scale art projects in
Glassboro.” - Councilwoman Anna Miller
The mosaic mural will energize the Arts and Entertainment District and will be created over a sixmonth
period from February 1 – July 30, 2017. During this time, Zagar will train two visual artist
students from Rowan University as interns to learn the skills and oversee the mural project. The
interns will be responsible for acquiring materials, arranging for technical support required for mural
installation and all project communication. Following their internship they will work under Zagar’s
direction in a one-week residency in Glassboro to erect the mural in conjunction with community
members. A final celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony is planned to celebrate the project
completion with the project partners, stakeholders and community members in July 2017.
Mosaic Family Success Center, operated by Robins’ Nest, provides services that support the goal to
strengthen individual and family functioning and empower community residents to acquire the
knowledge, skills, and resources they need to succeed and achieve optimal outcomes for children.
