Ahmed passes away

in Praner Khela
Young film maker Rasel Ahmed
passed away on May 15. He was
ready to release his first film Nree.
According to the hospital report,
Rasel died due to a heart attack.
He and his wife Ethel Ahmed
were residents of North Badda.
His body was taken to his village
in Barisal yesterday.
Rasel Ahmed’s debut feature
film Nree is about the essence
of humanity. It tries to portray
the message that matters like
race and belief should not create
division among people. The
strongest bond that ties everyone
together is the shared bond of
being human.
Beside this, his other works
like Confession and Flyover got
positive reviews from audiences
and critics.
His sudden death has
saddened his colleagues in the
industry, some of whom have
posted quick reaction to the
social media.

Classical music is the base of
any music. The ‘guru-shishya’
tradition or parampara, which
denotes a succession of teachers
and disciples in traditional Indian
classical music, still exists in the
country.
Bengal Foundation believes
that the young generation has
to be motivated and involved
in learning and practicing the
Indian classical music to continue
the legacy of this tardition. This
tradition of thousand years may
survive only if young musicians
become interested to carry out
Indian classical music.
On this note, gurus and
shishyas will perform in a Bengal
Foundation’s regular music soiree
titled Praner Khela on May 18 at
the Chhayanaut Auditorium at
7pm. •

Swaraj Pancham will perform
group Dhrupad in the concert
while Murtaza Kabir Murad and
his group Aaroho will present
group flute performance in the
second session of the event. •
Fifth season of Sultan Suleiman to air this Saturday

The fifth season of popular TV
series Sultan Suleiman is set to
premiere on Saturday, May 20. The
Turkish TV series that is dubbed
in Bangla will be shown from
Saturday to Thursday at 7:30pm
and 10pm, every week on Deepto
TV.
Written by Meral Okay and
Yılmaz Şahin, the Turkish historical
fiction television is based on the
life of Ottoman Sultan Süleiman the
Magnificent, the longest reigning
Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, and
his wife Hürrem Sultan, a slave girl
who later became Sultana.
Within the first two months
of its showing, Sultan Suleiman
received the highest TV program
ratings in Bangladesh. •
