Once united, expect to see substantive results that exceed the capacity of any one individual. Vision gives direction. (Rarely do you find the desired destination without having directions). There is a distinct difference between leadership and management. Leaders define the vision. Managers oversee the task required to achieve the vision. So some Leaders manage, but some Managers never lead. What's your vision? Teamwork Develops Talent - Inspires Trust - Provides Feedback - Is Flexible - Collaborative Spirit - Builds Relationships - Is Dependable A team produces synergy, where one plus one equals a lot more than two! Successful team members are deeply committed to each other's personal growth and success, as well as that of the team. Do you have a team or a group? As a manager you must develop the ability to communicate clearly, as well as critique without destroying the employee’s selfesteem. Your ability to guide your team, direct their actions and use errors as building blocks for future success is critical to maintaining a strong team. Empowering Others Promotes Growth - Provides New Opportunities - Establishes Boundaries - Allocates Consequences - Allows Decision Making - Acknowledges Contributions - Engages Employees One employee may thrive off competition, while another has a deep desire to challenge himself, while yet a third constantly seeks recognition. It is that internal drive that ultimately propels employees to reach their fullest potential. As a manager, your job is to empower your team by knowing each team member's strength, then placing that person in a position where that strength can shine. You then nurture that empowerment by challenging them to develop through cross training and new assignments.
