REMEMBER...
If you learn from the experience

NINE
elements
that cause
teams to fail
Do any of these exist on
your team?
Confused and
Conflicting Goals
Unresolved Roles
and Responsibilities
Negative Attitudes
Lack of Communication
Lack of Team Trust
Lack of Support
Deadlock
Losing the Big Picture
Failing to Explore
Alternatives

When faced with a
problem, there are seven
mistakes our brain makes
that prevents us from
successfully completing
the task or win as a team.
Satisficing
Grab on to what's easy and
obvious; over-compromise and
sub-optimize.
Leaping
Not enough time to frame the
issue properly.
Fixation
Mentally rigid and linear thinking
in order to avoid threats or
embarrassment.
Overthinking
Creating problems that weren't
even there in the first place.
Downgrading
The close cousin of satisficing;
downward or backward revision
of the goal.
Not Invented Here
Automatic negative perception of
concepts of solutions.
Self-Censoring
Putting our own ideas to death.

All
successful teams have good
habits
A habit comes from choices we
deliberately made at some point.
Unfortunately, our brains can't tell
good habits from bad ones.
As a result, we form habit loops.

Habit Loop
by Charles Duhigg
In his book The Power of Habit, Charles Duhigg
describes the habit loop as follows:
Keep the cues and rewards the
same and replace the routine by
following these steps.
1. Find a simple and obvious cue.
2. Clearly define the rewards.
3. Create a craving.
In other words,
positive habits produce
positive outcomes and
negative habits
produce negative
outcomes.

Issue
1. Absence of
Trust
Dysfunctions Of A Team
by Patrick Lencioni's
1. Vulnerability
How to
Overcome
2. Fear of
Conflict
3. Lack of
Commitment
4. Failure to Embrace
Accountability
5. Inattention to
Results
2. Passionate unfiltered
debate where trust exists
3. Buy-in and clarity
4. Be willing to call each other
on behavior issues
5. Stay focused on clear
priorities and minimize
distractions

your team have
that help build
success?
