4 Steps to a Fabulous Kitchen
Embarking on a new kitchen project is an exciting time, but it can also feel a little
overwhelming. Follow these four simple steps to ensure you get things right…
Function
It’s easy to get carried away
with paint samples and Pinterest
boards, but before you think
about how your new kitchen is
going to look it is vital that you
give careful consideration to
how you are going to use it.
Keen chefs will want to consider
appliances such as a steam oven
or sous vide, while those with
limited space should prioritise
clever storage and those who
enjoy entertaining may want
to factor in some informal
seating or a wine fridge.
Space
Think about how you can get the
most from the space you have.
A bespoke kitchen manufacturer
should be able to work around
any awkward spots to maximise
every inch that is available. If you’re
considering building work it’s
also worth appointing a designer
early on, so you can get a rough
idea of your desired layout and
any associated building needs
before the build takes place.
Design
“It is vitally important that you find
a designer that you can work with
and whom you feel can translate
your ideas well.” says John
Stephens, Managing Director of
Kent based kitchen manufacturer
Rencraft. “Get recommendations
from people in your area and
visit several showrooms, but
be careful not to be seduced
by sales speak. Planning a new
kitchen is a long journey and
you need to be confident that
you and your designer are
on the same wavelength.”
Finish
Now for the fun part! Time to
consider the final look of your
kitchen. “Computer generated
images and graphics have come
on leaps and bounds in recent
years.” adds John. “At Rencraft,
we have a dedicated in house
CAD specialist and a bespoke 3D
program that can provide clients
with a clear illustration of how
their finished design will look.”
“It’s also at this point that you can
consider colour schemes and any
extra details you may want, such as
handmade cutlery inserts or spice
racks. We believe these finishing
touches make all the difference
to our kitchens; ensuring they
always look great, work brilliantly
and stand the test of time.”
