Values Based Recruit m ent
As of 2015, the National Panhellenic Conference that
oversees all College and University Panhellenic
Associations announced that they would be
switching from "no-frills recruitment" to "values
based recruitment". These are the aims of values
based recruitment:
- Focus on conversations between chapter
members and potential new members about
organizational values and member
organizations.
- Establish guidelines for membership
recruitment budgets and set a cap on
membership recruitment expenses, including
the value of all donated goods and services.
- Keep decorations to a minimum and confined
to the interior space used for recruitment
rounds.
- Determine recruitment event attire for
chapter members that reduces individual
financial burden and eliminates costuming.
- Eliminate gifts, favors, letters and notes for
potential new members.
- Eliminate recruitment skits.
The aim of values based recruitment is to focus on
the meaningful conversations that happen
throughout the recruitment process, instead of all
the superficial decorations. These decorations aren't
going to determine if you find your home within that
organizations, you find it through talking to the
women, and getting to know the chapter.
Each organization has unique and different values,
but that is what makes each organization so
different yet so similar to the other Panhellenic
organizations. Each sorority looks to further their
legacy, and to do so, they must keep to their roots,
their values, that their founders instilled in them.
They will look to find those values in you, so be
confident, and let your true self shine!
