<strong>Controversial</strong> <strong>Questions</strong> <strong>about</strong> <strong>Islam</strong> and Comments<br />

is man’s vicegerency on Earth (1) to enjoy, maintain and invest. As<br />

a test, Allah set for him boundaries that should not be crossed, in<br />

spite of the temptation of temporary happiness, in order to win the<br />

eternal happiness in the Hereafter. Among the most prominent gifts<br />

that distinguish Man from other creatures are: reasoning faculty,<br />

guidance and relative freedom of choice.<br />

God distinguished accountable creatures (Humans and Jinn)<br />

with a reasoning faculty of the highest degree to perceive things<br />

that their senses come across, distinguish between them, memorize<br />

them for long periods of time, and develop additional knowledge<br />

for instant or later use. God gave accountable creatures the ability<br />

to comprehend the religious teachings that guide them to what is<br />

good, bring success and prosperity, and warn them from what is<br />

evil and brings failure. The reasoning faculty is a great gift that<br />

demands a high price and much accountability from those granted<br />

it. No sane creature would willingly forsake this gift: to become<br />

insane, an ignorant child or without consciousness to be exempted<br />

from accountability.<br />

Allah provided man with innate guidance. The Prophet of <strong>Islam</strong><br />

said: “All is born according to the fitrah (natural disposition), but<br />

his parents make him a Jew, a Christian, or a Magian...” (2) Allah,<br />

also, provided man with guidance and instructions through His<br />

messengers, to remind him of his oath to worship one God and to<br />

provide him with the detailed teachings, which best suit the different<br />

circumstances on Earth.<br />

No sane person would reject the fact that Allah granted accountable<br />

creatures a wide range of freedom of choice to enjoy, which enables<br />

him to choose the eternal life they decide for themselves. Allah<br />

says: {“The truth is from your Lord”. Then whosoever wills, let<br />

him believe, and whosoever wills let him disbelieve. Verily, for the<br />

wrongdoer We have prepared a fire. Verily As for those who believe<br />

and do righteous deeds We shall not suffer to perish the reward of
