Forever <strong>Films</strong> Tara D. The Breakfast Club-The characters and themes in the Breakfast Club are timeless. I could watch it over and over again. The idea of cliques and high-schoolers trying to figure out who they are is something I, and everyone, can relate to. Also, the cinematography in this film makes you feel like you are in the scenes with the characters when you watch the movie. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off-Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is another classic teen coming-of-age film. It is hilariously entertaining and Ferris is the adventurous, rule-breaking kid that everyone wishes they could be sometimes. I love the breaking of the fourth wall by Ferris when he narrates because it is so different. The Sixth Sense-Sixth Sense pulls off the best twist ending that I have ever seen. Especially after watching it the second time, I was amazed to see all of the clues in the mise-en-scene (with the color red and the fact that he never directly talks to anyone) that I didn’t notice the first time but were so prominent throughout the film. It was very well-made. Love Actually-Love Actually is the sweetest, most endearing love story I have ever seen. The characters and their relationships are relatable, lovable, and heart-warming. The idea of an ensemble cast, and the flawless editing to transition between stories without confusing the audience is executed very well! I watch it every holiday season! Forrest Gump-I think Forrest Gump is one of the most beloved characters of all time. With family from Alabama, I have watched this movie time and time again growing up and it never gets old. There are especially a lot of quotes from this film’s screenplay that I think are really inspirational and meaningful. Also, the editors do a very good job of communicating the passage of time without confusing the audience or needing to use titles. La La Land-La La Land is visually one of the most stunning films I have ever seen. The story and characters are realistic and pull on your heart-strings, and the musical numbers are lively and entertaining. The sets and costumes are what really make the film, though. The clothing, mise-en-scene, and colors create an environment set in present-day that is wonderfully nostalgic of the 40s and 50s. Batman: The Dark Knight-This movie encompasses all of the best traits of action films. It is fast-paced and suspenseful, and the action sequences and special effects are thrilling. However, what makes this film a must-see is the villain. Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker is terrifying, raw, and well-developed. It is in my opinion the best superhero villain performance of all time. My Best Friend’s Wedding-This film is one I have watched over and over again since I was young. It is such a classic romantic comedy in the beginning, but by the end the film resolves
with the leading lady realizing she doesn't need the man she has been chasing, because he is happier with someone else. I like how realistic it is.
