THE SECOND DAY: 9TH DHUL *IJJAH<br />
YAWM AL-`ARAFAH (THE DAY OF `ARAFAH)<br />
FROM MIN¬ TO `ARAFAH (at least 6 miles)<br />
After Fajr %al\h recite the Takb|r\t at-Tashr|q. This practice will<br />
continue until the `A]r of the 13th of Dhul *ijjah (lasting for 23 %al\h<br />
in total). It is said aloud whether performing *ajj or at home.<br />
Its recital is W\jib upon males but Musta#abb upon the females. It is<br />
also Must#abb upon the Mus\fir but becomes W\jib upon them if they<br />
perform %al\h with Jam\`ah.<br />
The Takb|r\t at-Tashr|q are:<br />
‘Allchu ‘akbar, ‘Allchu ‘akbar.<br />
Lc ‘ilcha ‘illal-lchu wAl-lchu ‘akbar,<br />
‘Allchu ‘akbar wa lil-lchil xamd.<br />
All\h is Great, All\h is Great. There is no God but All\h<br />
<strong>and</strong> All\h is Great. All\h is Great, <strong>and</strong> for Him is all praise.<br />
After reciting the Takb|r\t at-Tashr|q audibly (silently for women) one<br />
should re-engage in reciting the Talbiyah.<br />
If one wishes to walk to `Arafah then one should underst<strong>and</strong> that this is<br />
probably the most difficult walk. The way to `Arafah however, is<br />
clearly marked out <strong>and</strong> one will also take advantage of the fact that<br />
