NHA Executive Board meets
The Executive Board of the National
Highway Authority (NHA), approved
award of work for Rehmani Khel to Kot
Belian section (Package 2A) on the
Western Route of China-Pakistan
Economic Corridor (CPEC) during a
meeting held at NHA head office
recently with Chairman Shahid Ashraf
Tarar in the chair.
The approved project forms an
i m p o r t a n t s e c t i o n o f H a k l a -
D.I.Khan Motorway and was
awarded to the lowest evaluated
bidder, a joint venture (JV) of M/s
SKB & M/s KNK at their evaluated
bid price of Rs. 9.232 billion.

The Chairman NHA informed the
meeting that timely completion of the
western route of CPEC was among top
priorities.

Pakistan gets first
female ADB head
The Asian Development Bank has
appointed Ms Xiaohong Yang as the
first woman country director for
Pakistan.
The appointment of a Chinese national
reflects ADB’s support to the country’s
development goals through initiatives,
such as China-Pakistan Economic
Corridor and the Central Asian
Regional Cooperation (CAREC).
After assuming charge Ms Yang said
Pakistan has a fast improving economy
led by a youthful and dynamic
workforce. Ms Yang’s professional
experience in development spans over
three decades,
during which she
managed complex
infrastructurer
e l a t e d
a s s i g n m e n t s
covering a diverse
portfolio including highways, railways,
waterways, cross border logistics
p r o j e c t s a n d p u b l i c - p r i v a t e
partnerships.

Mr.S.M.Muneer said that Canada’s halal
food market is currently estimated to be
a $1 billion industry, and the demand for
halal options has increased along with
Canada’s Muslim population, which
grew 82 per cent over the last decade,
and is expected to triple by 2031. This
was stated at the event organised by
President Universal Promotion,
Mr.Amir Shamsi. At the occasion

upcoming 4th largest Mississauga Halal
Foods festival in Canada .He hopes that
it will help to capture Halal food
industry in North American Market and
will enhance its export .

held on 20th May, 2017 at Celebration
Center, Square One, Canada.This event
will reflect the increase in demand for
halal products and will show that event
will become a destination for people
looking to sample and learn about halal
food options in Canada.
He said that Mississauga Halal Food
Festival is a celebration of Toronto’s
diverse and delicious food trends and he
wants to share this experience with the
community.
