$41,000 raised at Rick Seeds benefit draft and auction

The Brymaroo Rodeo and
Campdraft grounds have been
the site for an amazing fundraising
event, with $41,000 raised
during one night and one day,
to benefit respected campdrafter
and stockman Rick Seeds and
his wife Sally.
Rick Seeds, an identity in
horse and campdraft circles,
suffered major injuries during
horse work last November. He
attended in an electrically powered
rubber tracked machine as
he recovers.

Sunrise Way has reached
the significant milestone of
three years of operation
and are looking to the future
with several years of
secure funding from both
the Federal and State Governments.
This funding will allow
us to support stronger and
healthier communities
throughout regional and
rural Queensland by helping
individuals living with
addiction to rebuild their
lives.
This recognition and
security has been a long
time in the making and
none of this would have
been possible without the
support of our anonymous
benefactor, the incredible
contribution of time,
money and commitment
from individuals such as
yourself, and the broader
Toowoomba Community.
To mark this occasion
we are holding an afternoon
tea to celebrate on
Wednesday, July 26, and
it would be fantastic if you
are available to attend.

The Cooyar and Brymaroo
Campdraft committees combined
for the event and they say
that tremendous support for a
fellow competitor was clearly
evident at the benefit auction and
open draft.
The event started last Saturday
evening with an invitational
bull ride on Campbell Frame’s
legendary bulls.
This set the scene for the night
ahead when winner Jamie Hasted
donated back some of his
prize money as well as a set of
unique hand crafted spurs for the
benefit auction later in the night.
The evening then proceeded
to the embracing atmosphere of
the Brymaroo Big Shed where
appetites were sated with a delicious
camp oven stew, cooked
over the coals. Larry Cann
chaired the benefit auction while
auctioneer, Joe Lehman rustled
up the bids.
Organisers said many people
willingly contributed to
the spirit of the evening. Local
businesses, individuals and the
supportive campdraft, rodeo and
racing communities throughout
Queensland and interstate donated
21 quality auction items.
Bringing the auction to the
end was a beautifully made Troy
Welsh Fender Saddle bought by
Sarah Campbell who rode in
it the following day for fourth
place in the open draft.
