CELEBRATING COMMUNITY GROWTH

In the past couple years #JCMO has become the popular tag for
Jefferson City Missouri, and last year the Chamber began to use
#GROWJCMO to educate the community about our mission of
economic growth and to encourage and celebrate our successful
community partnerships in growing our community.
We are excited to share with you some of the projects that are
underway or will begin in 2017/2018. These signs of growth are due
in large part to excellent community partnerships. Together we can
#GROWJCMO!

Special Olympics Missouri Training for Life campus
Wellness & Recreation Center Project: Jefferson City Parks &
Recreation has partnered with Lincoln University to construct and
operate a student wellness center and community multipurpose
facility on Lafayette Street on the Lincoln University campus. The new
center opened on March 24th and has a four full-court gymnasium
with an elevated walking track, three multi-purpose rooms and a
student fitness area. The center is open to the public.
The Boys & Girls Club of the Capital City is in the final phase of
construction of their new facility being built on the Lincoln University
campus. The new center will open in the summer of 2017 and will be
a welcome addition to the community.
Helias Catholic High School completed a major expansion
including a science center, performing arts auditorium, and worship
center. Construction is underway on their multi-million dollar
athletic complex. This will be a great addition to the high school and
to our community and represents a major investment in Jefferson
City.

Special Olympics Missouri will build a new Training for Life
Campus in Jefferson City. Groundbreaking is set for May 4, 2017.
This project was made possible by partnerships with local businesses,
City and County government, and donation of land.
Capital Mall improvements continue with the addition of new retail
stores and major improvements to the facility.
The Truman Hotel site will undergo major changes in 2017 with
the demolition of the current property and plans are underway for the
construction of two new hotels to be built on the property. We thank
the Puri Group for this investment in Jefferson City.

The community recently passed a bond issue for Jefferson City
Public Schools which will enable JCPS to renovate the current high
school and construct a second high school opening Fall 2019.
These are just a few examples of the exciting development in
Jefferson City. We look forward to news on the re-development in
the MSP area, riverfront, and at the former SSM St. Mary’s hospital,
as well as community efforts to raise funds for a Splash Park. Our
community is definitely working together to “GrowJCMO.
