e Training & more
This e-heli flew in 2016 - now
the French manufacturer
Aquinea wants to build a
two seater as well.
The “Workhorse” of the US manufacturer Surefly was
shown in Paris airshow 2017 and flies hybrid-electric.
Electric aviation shows a powerful cross-over application among
different industries. The collaboration between Airbus and
Siemens have proved that. Many technologies and products
such as autonomous vehicle control, detect and avoid, battery
and motor, advanced composite manufacturing progress can be
utilized by many other industries. The line between aviation and
other industries becomes so blurred. Some electric aviation startups
have already hired much more electric engineers than aeronautical
engineers.
For pilots and especially for new pilots who are just about to begin
training, the cheaper, quieter and more environmental and neighbor
community friendly electric flight now becomes more practical
and closer to reality than ever. Not only several electric airplanes
have obtained certification such as Pipistrel’s Alpha Electro (UL/
LSA in Australia) and the Chinese RX1E (LSA).
But although the situation light –electric Aircraft in many countries
is still unclear for the Microlight in Europe (demand for weight increase
pending) and LSA in USA (no electric motors allowed in
LSA class) several electric flight training programs have been set
up.
Pipistrels´ Alpha Electro is going
to be used in flight training
programs around the world -
France, Switzerland and USA are
starting this summer.
The Swiss company AlpinAirPlanes is going to deploy ten Alpha
Electro at ten trial airfields with flight schools, Each airfield has a
solar power recharging station and the distance between the airfields
is so that with the 1.5 hours of endurance of the aircraft
you always can reach at least 1 of the other fields. A similar project
will start this summer in Fresno county in California (USA) a team
around Joseph Oldham.
They will purchase 4 Alpha electro and use it in flightshools from 4
airfields. Interresting that both projects are financed by sponsors and
state support and in both countries the authorities allowed to fly in
this Testphase in the flight Training with permit to fly.
Two more flight trainings using the Alpha electro one is organized
by SpaceX because after an old US law all astronauts must have
a pilots licence. So the private space travel organizer is going
to train the future space tourist on the 2 Alpha Electro which will
be delivered at Oshkosh 2017. And finally the French Aeroclub
