St Mary’s Summer Fete
First of all a ‘HUGE BIG THANK -YOU’
to everyone who helped to set up and
pack away on the day. It was very
much appreciated and helped make
the day go smoothly.
With an outdoor event these days, one
thing you can never plan for is the
weather, but we were blessed with a
lovely sunny summer day with only
one small rain shower while we were
packing up.
The church in the community is what
drives us to arrange this event year on
year and it was so nice to see so
many people from Finedon and further
afield, together with the support of the
stallholders. ‘A BIG THANK- YOU’ to
you all for your support and
generosity.
The atmosphere on the day showed a
real community spirit, and it was so
wonderful so see this, especially with
the current news and events. Seeing
the children and adults alike smiling,
laughing and toe tapping. Even seeing
somebody’s ‘dad dancing’ to the
sounds from the Jazz Band , which
included their special guest Father
Richard .(If any aspiring young
musicians want to have a go, music
sessions are held at Wren School
Wellingborough on Saturday mornings

The highlight for me had to be the Pig
Racing. Seeing those little furry pink
pigs racing down the track and hearing
people cheering their pig on just like
the Grand National.
With Finedon’s own version of ‘The
Big Painting Challenge’ (presented by
Fr Richard), the children of Finedon
Schools were given the challenge to
complete a portrait of Fr Richard, who
judged and presented prizes for the
winning entries.
