Indian Roads

While many countries across the world
are moving towards automated cars
on their roads, India has decided that
it will take some time and first make
sure that automation does not impact
the employment opportunities for its
people.
Union transport minister, Nitin
Gadkari, said that the government will
not allow driverless cars on Indian
roads. "How can we allow such vehicles
when we already have huge number of
unemployed people?"
He also pointed out that there is a
shortage of 2.2 million drivers in the
country. Gadkari said the decision is
taken keeping in mind the millions of
driver jobs that might be affected due
to automation in the sector.

The crew of Indian carriers — Air
India and Jet Airways — that operate
to Saudi Arabia are a scared lot. The
country keeps the original passport
of crew members on arrival and the
personnel then have only photocopies
of their travel documents during their
stay in Saudi. While this practice
has always worried pilots and flight
attendants, their fears recently turned
true when the crew of an AI flight was
reportedly detained in Jeddah last
Wednesday for this reason.
"We operated AI 931 on July 26.
After landing in Jeddah, four of us
think they can make more money by
introducing technology like driverless
cars and render people unemployed,
the government is not going to allow
it.”
As of now self-driving cars also know
as autonomous cars are being tested in
countries including US South Korea,
Germany and Australia.
The government has been working on
plans to reduce the number of cars on
roads and to promote electric vehicles.
It said that electric vehicles may soon
be part of public transportation system
that will help to reduce the number of
cars on roads.
The government is planning to get
such buses which have high passengers
facilities and runs on alternative fuels.
It is also working on a proposal to
develop Bus Ports in India.

Raksha Bandhan also known as Rakhi
Purnima or simply Rakhi is a Hindu

The preparation for Raksha Bandhan
starts at least a month or weeks prior
to the festival. Women would be busy
shopping for Rakhis and visiting
temples. They buy Rakhis of different
varieties or they even make them by
themselves. Tying a Rakhi or a sacred
thread is a traditional practice on this
festival and is considered a ritual.

brothers and bless them with prayers
for their wellbeing, prosperity and
