Good afternoon to you all, welcome to The Paycare Ground for the first
League match of the 2017/18 West Midlands (Regional) League season.
This is the first opportunity I have had to officially say hello to the Club
Members and Darlaston supporters, and to introduce my staff.
As most of you know I
am Darlaston born and
bred, I still live in the
area with my family as
do all of the coaching
team. I have a long
association with the
club, having played for
Darlaston as a youth
player, before leaving
in 1997 returning
three years later and
played for a further five years for the club. Myself and my Assistant Andy
Thomas (Tomo) have been together for the past four seasons at Red Star
Alma and West Bromwich United where last season where we finished
runners up in Division 2 and won the Division League Cup in our first
season. There are three other members of my team, two of which are no
strangers to Darlaston Town, ex player Stephen Coyne and Joel Waite,
who we all know has had a difficult time recently finally, my friend Shaun
Bolton, who in his youth also played at the club.
When coming to a new club
there are always lots of
unanswered questions, but
because we knew so much
about the club, the transition
has been very smooth, the
Chairman and Club
Committee have been
outstanding since my team
and I were appointed, they
have been so supportive and nothing has been too much trouble. We are
