2007: ano<strong>the</strong>r year of growth
for <strong>the</strong> chemicals industry
After <strong>the</strong> record year 2006, 2007 will again see an increasing demand for chemical
products. Apart from ongoing export activities it is <strong>the</strong> booming domestic demand,
e. g. from <strong>the</strong> construction industry which will mark this development. Many chemicals
companies “have done a good job” in <strong>the</strong> previous years and increased <strong>the</strong>ir
productivity and streamlined internal processes.
Now <strong>the</strong> time has come to benefit from <strong>the</strong> boom and to head for sustainable
growth. There are many opportunities at hand, e. g. in <strong>the</strong> threshold countries and
in <strong>the</strong> growing biofuels markets. However, <strong>the</strong> process of essential restructuring
will continue and will reshape <strong>the</strong> whole industry in <strong>the</strong> long run. Seize <strong>the</strong> opportunity
at this well-established Annual Conference to discuss <strong>the</strong> following and
