Ages 6 & up
This progressive program, of 45-minute
classes, comprises five main components:
personal growth; personal safety; stroke
development; water sports and games; and
rescue. Each level builds upon the preceding
level, with seven levels covering all the
strokes, diving fundamentals, and safety skills.
Fish, Flying Fish
in a class setting. Prerequisites: Must be able
to float and swim independently with the aid
of a flotation device. Must be able to swim
10 yards without assistance. Children work
on endurance and the fundamentals of rotary
breathing and swimming on their backs.
(1/2 the length of the pool) front and back crawl
or successful completion of Polliwog Plus. Must
begin to build endurance and confidence in their
basic swimming skills and are introduced to
elementary backstroke, sidestroke and
breaststroke in their most basic forms. Guppies
breathing and one length back crawl or successful
completion of Guppy. Strokes are refined with a
strong emphasis on proper mechanics. Minnows
build endurance in all strokes including
freestyle, backstroke, sidestroke, elementary
backstroke and breaststroke. Form and
endurance are the key in this intermediate level.
completion of Minnow. Stroke mechanics are
emphasized with a specific focus on breaststroke
Minnows and need less rest between exercises
as they focus on skill refinement of all strokes.
