Resident Hosts Party
It’s the time of year when the sea
turtles make their way to shore
to lay eggs and one Vero Resident
is rolling out the red carpet...literally.
“We’re busy getting everything
ready. From the seaweed and whelk
buffet to the night vision goggles
for our carefully selected attendees,
we’ve got a lot to do”, explains the
Party Host, who wishes to remain
anonymous. The Host was hard at
work carefully placing the red velvet
carpet into the surf, the first
stop for his esteemed guests of honor
who will slowly make their way
to the dune where the carpet gives
way to soft sand, tediously prepped
for the turtles in order to provide the
evening’s entertainment. He’ll have
to repeat this task every night until
November when he gets a break to
start planning next year’s party.
“We try to make each year a
little more special than the year
before as we are usually hosting
new performers. It’s true, every few
years, we’ll get the chance to see
one of the turtles return for an encore
but, mostly, we want to make
it memorable for the first-timers”,
our hosts clarifies as he hands out
notices door-to-door reminding his
neighbors to keep their lights off
during his seven-month event.
If you’re not one of the few invited
to this private performance,
you can always take part in one of
the free public performances up and
down our coast!
