• Methods to produce GQD using the top-down approach;

(i) a conventional chemical oxidation process and

(ii) an acid-free process

• Can be apply according to their electrical and optical properties

• For energy storage devices (e.g: supercapacitors) and biosensors (e.g:

GQD conjugated enzymes)

• Carbon based QD which are non-toxic (unlike thier metal counterparts)

• Lower cost will ensure economic vialbility of these applications
