Congratulations to Louis
Oliver who was part of the
winning Renfrewshire 3
man team at the Glasgow
Golf Union Amateur Youth
Team Championships held
at Ralston Golf Club on
Sunday 10th August. The
tournament was reduced from 36 holes to 18 due to bad weather. The
team comprising of Louis (Old Course Ranfurly), Sean Burns (Caldwell)
and Stuart Cameron (Elderslie) claimed the title with a total score of 148.
Well done guys, another great victory.
Gleddoch Ladies brave the
weather at Dundonald
In spite of the weather, some Gleddoch ladies and friends enjoyed their
weekend as volunteer scorers at the Scottish Ladies Open, and saw some
great golf.
The weather has been going from
bad to worse, but most of the August
competitions took place. The Carlaw
Putter was won by captain Mhairi Bryce,
with the Silver Salver played at the same
time going to Vice Captain Shirley Back
with a fantastic 38 Stableford points.
Shirley also won the silver division of the
Stroke competition the next week, and
Margaret Adams won the bronze. Roisin
Black and Trixie Brown were Silver and
Bronze winners in the August medal.
And STOP PRESS Shirley Back beat
June Lockhart in a thrilling final to win
Gleddoch’s Club Championship for the twelfth time. Congratulations are
due to both!
Our next competition is our Invitation Day. We’re keeping our fingers
crossed for a dry day!
Old Course Ranfurly Golf Club Raffle
for Prostate Cancer UK

the help of Lyall
Campbell and our
bar staff organised
a raffle to coincide
with our Saturday
competition on
the 26th August.
Prizes were kindly
donated by our
friends & members
and home baking
was made to help
raise money for Prostate Cancer UK, joining the fight to help save men’s
lives.
A total of £715 was raised so thank you to Trevor and the guys, this will go
a long way to raise awareness and help beat prostate cancer. Currently one
many every 45 minute dies from prostate cancer in the UK. That’s more
than 11,000 men a year and by 2030, prostate cancer is set to become the
mostly commonly diagnosed cancer of all in the UK.
SGU Area Team Championships
Our club champion Stewart Watt was selected to represent Renfrewshire
Golf Union as part of their 6 man team at the Scottish Golf Union Area Team
Championships in Newmachar. After a strong performance in the strokeplay
section, Renfrewshire qualified 4th seed for the knockouts. They would
eventually go on to claim a bronze medal after a narrow loss to Lothian GU
in the semi finals. Congratulations to the team and to Captain Andy Farmer
and Matt Clark of Kilmalcolm Golf Club.
