Child & Adult Abuse & Neglect Non-Recurrence Rates
Some of the County’s most vulnerable
populations rely on services that will
have lasting impacts on individuals
in the community. Several of the
Department of Social Services key
indicators center around the protection
and support of individuals most at risk,
who tend to be children and the elderly
but can also be persons with disabilities
and other adults seeking aid.
The child abuse and neglect non-recurrence
rate measures the annual percent
of Child Protective Services clients who
are not repeat victims of maltreatment.
Similarly, the adult abuse and neglect
non-recurrence rate measures the annual
percent of Adult Protective Services
clients who are not repeat victims of
maltreatment.
Policy and procedure changes, which
emphasize the front-loading of services
to families, along with support from
community agencies have led to an
increase in the child abuse and neglect
non-recurrence rate. While, better
tracking and reporting of cases have
led to an increase in the adult abuse
and neglect non-recurrence rate.
