Carnival At The Desert Empire Fair<br />

onoring Courage, Saluting Sacrifice”<br />

is the theme of the 2017 Desert<br />

Empire Fair in Ridgecrest. The Fair’s<br />

goal is to provide one big Thank You to all those<br />

who work to serve, save, and protect us. This<br />

will be the best fun-filled flavor fest of a good<br />

time ever... their emphasis on kids but plenty for<br />

adults also.<br />

MUSIC<br />

Music headliners include: Doobie Rock music<br />

of the Doobie Bros; Jett Benatar, the raucous<br />

sounds of both Joan Jett and Pat Benatar; 60’s<br />

Summer of Love Psychedelic Rock n Roll; and<br />

local musical favorites.<br />

ENTERTAINMENT<br />

There is entertainment galore with strolling<br />

acts “The Little Cowboys”, Firestryker the amazing<br />

Dragon, and the beats of Street Drum Corps.<br />

Shows are everywhere with the K-9 Kings<br />

Dog show, the hilarious Wild About Monkeys<br />

Show, Freddy Prez Crazy Contest Show where<br />

someone will get a chance to win $10,000<br />

tossing a frisbee, camel rides, a petting zoo, and<br />

Cook’s Racing Pigs.<br />

RODEO AND CARNIVAL<br />

On Saturday night, enjoy Ridgecrest Rodeo<br />

along with food, food, food everywhere you<br />

turn. Also, Butler Amusements is back with<br />

thrilling midway rides.<br />

Fontana’s Let’s Move on the Trail Event<br />

Health, fitness, safety, farmers’ market,<br />

vendors, games, and more at this family event.<br />

Join the City of Fontana and community<br />

partners on Saturday, October 14, at the<br />

Let’s Move on the Trail event on the Pacific<br />

Electric Trail (P.E. Trail) between Cypress Avenue<br />

and Steelworkers’ Auditorium. Explore<br />

the event’s Health, Safety and Fitness Expo,<br />

Farmers’ Market, health and wellness vendors,<br />

games and activities and giveaways. The City of<br />

Fontana’s Let’s Move on the Trail award-winning<br />

event is designed to help promote a healthy and<br />

safe community.<br />

The City of Fontana’s Let’s Move on the Trail<br />

event will kick off at 9am with the Bike and<br />

Family Walk/Run events. The Bike event will<br />

begin on the P.E. Trail at North Heritage Circle<br />

and will conclude at the Steelworkers’ Auditorium<br />

located at 8437 Sierra Avenue. The Family<br />

Walk/Run event will begin on the P.E. Trail<br />

at Cedar Avenue and will also conclude at the<br />

Steelworkers’ Auditorium. To register for either<br />

The event will have a variety of fun activities<br />

and valuable resources geared toward<br />

individual and family healthy lifestyles. The<br />

day includes a Family Fitness Fun Zone and<br />

vendors showcasing products, information,<br />

samples and demonstrations on how to achieve<br />

healthy lifestyles.<br />

The City of Fontana’s Let’s Move on the Trail<br />

event will take place in conjunction with the<br />

John B. Roberts Fire Station #71 Open House<br />

located at 16980 Arrow Boulevard and the Fontana<br />

Police Department Expo located at Civic<br />

Center Drive/Seville Avenue.<br />

The John B. Roberts Fire Station #71<br />

Open House will have station tours, live auto<br />

extrication demos, a home fire safety simulator,<br />

the Hazardous Materials Response Unit, the<br />

USAR Team display and a fire safety information<br />

booth.<br />

The Fontana Police Department Expo<br />

will showcase Police SWAT vehicles and live<br />

demonstrations by the bicycle, motorcycle, K9<br />

and SWAT teams.<br />

Don’t leave the pets at home! The Healthy<br />

Pet Expo located at Seville Park, 16669 Seville<br />

Avenue, will be offering a low cost vaccine<br />

clinic, a dog bite safety booth, critters for the<br />

kids, pet food/safety vendors and a pet costume<br />

contest. Bring your pets dressed in their best<br />

costume for their chance to win the pet costume<br />

contest.<br />
