Sandakan native is now
the founder of the awardwinning
M8 Studio, and
is regularly sought after
by international brands
and celebrities for his
impeccable work.
Biggest risk taken:
"Using a sky lift on
the 15th floor for a
photography shoot. I am
afraid of heights!"
Fanny Bucheli
Feature Writer
Born and raised in
Switzerland, Fanny has
been travelling the world
in search of human
stories. Seventeen years
in Malaysia has given her
a special appreciation for
her host country.
Biggest risk taken:
"Leave my job, family,
friends, and home to
follow my then boyfriend
(now husband) to the
other end of the world –
from Switzerland to Asia,
a place I had never been
to."
Joey Yap
Make Up Artist
Joey has been doing
makeup and hair for
20 years, concentrating
mostly on the publishing
industry. She is a regular
on titles such as Nuyou,
Prestige, Harper’s Bazaar,
and Esquire. Her creative
work also extends to
commercials and events
such as MTV World
Stage Asia.
Biggest risk taken:
"Sometimes I take on
more than one job a
day, and some days the
photo shoots finish later
than expected. I have to
rush from one place to
another. Hence, I take the
risk not just in the jobs I
take on but also driving
fast to get from one place
to another in order not to
be late."
Jennifer Choo
Hair Stylist
Jennifer never wanted to
be a writer; she wanted
to be a reader. Librarian
was her first ambition as
a child but fate conspired
to lead her down a
different path. Desperate
to escape the world of
law, she began writing
about interior design
for a local magazine,
which led to a career in
media – including the
editorship of a couple of
design magazines. She
now freelances and writes
about design, fashion,
food and travel.
Biggest risk taken:
"Quitting a stable job and
becoming a freelancer."
shereen khoo
Feature Writer
An alumni of King’s
College London
majoring in nutrition,
Shereen has handled
weight management
programmes, conducted
sports nutrition talks
for Nike’s Run Clinic,
featured articles in a
local cycling magazine
and contributed
nutritional insights as a
guest panellist in Shape
magazine.
Biggest risk taken:
"Entering uncharted
territory by taking a leap
into the exploration of a
new career direction for
advancement."
