TGCR'S CLOSED CHAMPIONSHIP <strong>2017</strong><br />
<strong>The</strong> 23rd <strong>Tropicana</strong> Club Closed<br />
Championship <strong>2017</strong>, a 3-day event which<br />
is the penultimate golf event of the year<br />
for <strong>Tropicana</strong> Golf & Country Resort<br />
(TGCR) arrived with great anticipation<br />
by all members filling all 120 spots. This<br />
year is the first time in the club’s history<br />
to host the tournament with play starting<br />
from the all 3 courses starting from the<br />
West, East 1 and East 2.<br />
Many members practiced weeks<br />
on end to catch a glimpse of glory<br />
and be named club champion. <strong>The</strong>y<br />
compete not just for the prizes, but to<br />
be immortalised in <strong>Tropicana</strong> Golf and<br />
Country Club’s history. <strong>The</strong> event was<br />
opened by last year’s runner up Jimmy<br />
Chia kicking off the tournament by<br />
hitting the first tee shot. This year the<br />
course set another challenge for the<br />
player with greens speed up to 13 feet on<br />
the stimpmeter on the first day setting<br />
the speed the highest in the club’s history<br />
of the usual tournament greens speed of<br />
12 feet.<br />
