Kids of the ’80s will undoubtedly remember the Countach that was practically revered by everyone during its heyday—and even up to now. At present, its latest counterpart among the current generation is the Aventador, with its sculpted lines and flowing form. Apart from Lamborghini, there are other awesome models to tickle the imagination of both budding and jaded car nuts. Porsche 911s, Paganis, the Chevrolet Corvette. Wait, what was that last one, you ask? No, that wasn’t a typo. Because unless you’ve been living under a moon rock, you may have heard that the all-new, C7-based Corvette Z06 has leveled up its game to bring more performance to the ever-growing supercar party. The Z06 presents a package that’s a massive departure from the Corvettes of our fathers during their teenage years. While that was a hoot
THE RIVALS 9 to drive, the sad reality is that it was merely a great muscle car that could go fast in a straight line and nothing else. Today’s Corvette clocks in a 3.3sec 0-100kph time courtesy of a 6.2-liter supercharged V8. This motor, along with the all-wheel drivetrain, can match the Aventador’s 690hp 6.5-liter V12 with its own 650 horses. Sure, the century run may be down by 0.4sec versus the bull, but the Vette can now hold its own around the corners. That’s something that could never be said of Chevys (or any American muscle car) of old. Moreover, you can even specify a plethora of go-fast and gee-whiz gizmos to make it run even better. That’s in addition to the already sophisticated all-wheel-drive system, carbon-fiber body, and a look that is as droolworthy as the hottest cars on the planet. ‘THAT WASN’T A TYPO.
