HOLLYWOOD 91 In continuation of their long-standing partnership, Aston Martin and 007 join forces again in the latest film of the James Bond franchise, Spectre. It was in 1964 when the British Secret Service agent took delivery of his very first Aston Martin, a DB5, in the Sean Connery starrer Goldfinger. Bond’s latest car, the DB10, takes after its predecessor with its simple yet stylish lines. Compared with past Bond cars, however, the DB10 is a different breed altogether. While Bond’s previous rides were production models modified with all sorts of gizmos and tech wizardry to make them worthy of Hollywood fame, the DB10 was built by Aston Martin specifically for the film. In fact, only 10 copies were made— eight for the film and two for the car-show circuit. Under the hood is a 4.7-liter V8 from the V8 Vantage S, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The exterior boasts a shark-like grille, a clamshell hood, and really cool but straightforward details. Inside, there is even a detachable attaché-case-like glovebox and, of course, buttons for deploying various weapons. This car will only be for the movie, unfortunately, but its clean, suave design gives a peek into the future models of the British car company. And the look is pure James Bond—sleek, sophisticated, and shaken, not stirred.
