their sins are pardoned. Nor even to be satisfied with having<br />

entered the Holy Place, and there doing the service <strong>of</strong> the taber<br />

nacle, while the veil still hinders the full fellowship with the<br />

living God and His love. It calls to enter in through the rent<br />

veil, into the place into which the blood has been brought, and<br />

where the High Priest lives, there to live and walk and<br />

work always in the presence <strong>of</strong> the Father. It is a call to all<br />

doubting, thirsting believers, who long for a better life than they<br />

have yet known, to cast aside their doubts, and to believe that<br />

this is what Christ has indeed done and brought within the<br />

reach <strong>of</strong> each one <strong>of</strong> us : He has opened the way into the <strong>Holiest</strong> !<br />

This is<br />

the salvation which He has accomplished, and which He<br />

lives to apply in each <strong>of</strong> us, so that we shall indeed dwell in the<br />

full light <strong>of</strong> God s countenance.<br />

Enter into the <strong>Holiest</strong>. This is, in one short word, the fruit<br />

<strong>of</strong> Christ s work, the chief lesson <strong>of</strong> the Epistle, the one great<br />

need <strong>of</strong> our Christian life, the complete and perfect salvation<br />

God in Christ gives us to enjoy.<br />

Enter into the <strong>Holiest</strong>, What <strong>Holiest</strong>? To the reader<br />

who has gone with us through the Epistle thus far, it is hardly<br />

needful to say, No other than that very same into which<br />

Christ, when He had rent the veil in His death, entered through<br />

His own blood, to appear before the face <strong>of</strong> God for us. That<br />

<strong>Holiest</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>All</strong> is the heavenly place. But not heaven, as it is<br />

ordinarily understood, as a locality, distinct and separate from<br />

this earth. <strong>The</strong> heaven <strong>of</strong> God is not limited in space<br />

in the<br />

same way as a place on earth. <strong>The</strong>re is a heaven above us,<br />

the place <strong>of</strong> God s special manifestation. But there is also a<br />

spiritual heaven, as omnipresent as God Himself. Where God<br />

is, is heaven the heaven <strong>of</strong> His<br />

; presence includes this earth<br />

too, <strong>The</strong> <strong>Holiest</strong> into which Christ entered, and into which He
