EDNA ZAPANTA MANLAPAZ<br />

Until her retirement in 2000, Edna Zapanta Manlapaz served as a<br />

faculty member of the Department of English at Ateneo de Manila<br />

University. In 1994 she co-founded the Ateneo Library of Women’s<br />

Writings (ALIWW), an archive mandated to “procure, preserve and<br />

promote” writings by and about Filipino women. These archival<br />

materials document the many varied contributions of Filipino<br />

women in all areas of national life.<br />

Though her eighteen books range from term paper writing to<br />

Kapampangan literature, most focus on Philippine literature in<br />

English written by women.<br />

CZARINA SALOMA<br />

Czarina Saloma is Associate Professor at the Department of<br />

Sociology and Anthropology and Research Associate at the<br />

Institute of Philippine Culture of Ateneo de Manila University, and<br />

currently a Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at<br />

Bielefeld University. Her publications include “Possible Worlds in<br />

Impossible Spaces: Globality, Knowledge, Gender and Information<br />

Technology in the Philippines,” a study on the everyday life-world<br />

of Filipino information technology professionals, and co-author<br />

(with Erik Akpedonu) of Casa Boholana: Vintage Houses of Bohol, a<br />

book on the everyday life-world of residents of vintage houses.<br />

YAEL A BUENCAMINO<br />

Yael A. Buencamino has been Managing Curator of the Ateneo Art<br />

Gallery since 2007. As Managing Curator she oversees the planning<br />

and development of the museum’s exhibitions and programs. Prior<br />

to joining the museum, she taught Southeast Asian Studies in the<br />

University of Asia and the Pacific and Asian Art at the College of<br />

Fine Arts, UP Diliman.<br />

She holds an MA in Southeast Asian studies and a postgraduate<br />

diploma in Asian Art from the School of Oriental and African<br />

Studies, University of London. She currently sits on the board<br />

of trustees of the Ateneo Library of Women’s Writings and the<br />

Alliance of Greater Manila Area Museums.<br />

CHERIE AUDREY ALFILER<br />

Cherie Audrey Alfiler was a former research assistant at the<br />

Institute of Philippine Culture. She completed her BA in Social<br />

Sciences specializing in Cultural Heritage Studies at the Ateneo de<br />

Manila University in 2013. At present, she is taking up her MA in<br />

Anthropology in the same university.<br />

Many Journeys, Many Voices focuses the<br />

spotlight on Filipina Overseas Workers from the<br />

perspectives of three interdisciplinary studies:<br />

sociology, literature and art.<br />

It chronicles the “feminization” of Filipino migrant<br />

labor and surveys the singular challenges faced<br />

by Filipina women compelled to work overseas. It<br />

allows ten Filipinas to tell, in their own voices, the<br />

story of their lives and journeys. It exhibits three<br />
