Clean Sky is a newly launched public/private partnership
between industry, the research community and the
European Commission. It is a bold research initiative
to reduce aircraft fuel consumption, noise and
greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. If we are to meet
our emissions targets, such technologies need to be
developed now to ensure that the projected rise in air
transport is offset by the next generation of more fuel
efficient aircraft. The full-scale tests projected under
the Clean Sky research programme will accelerate
the arrival of these new technologies onto the market
and into our skies.
