The Nursing Council of
New Zealand is pleased to
present this report for the
year ending 31 March 2017
to the Minister of Health.
The report is presented in
accordance with section 134
of the Health Practitioners
Competence Assurance Act
2003 (HPCA Act). This Act
governs the activities of
the Council.
The purpose of the Act is to protect
the health and safety of members of
the public by providing for mechanisms
to ensure that health practitioners are
competent and fit to practise their
professions (HPCA Act, Part 1,
section 3(1)).
The Nursing Council of New Zealand
is guided by the principles of the
Treaty of Waitangi – Protection,
Partnership, Participation.
