INITIATIVE TO HELP INMATES<br />

SUCCESSFULLY TRANSITION<br />

Pennies for Poverty and the Justice<br />

Action Ministry of the First Religious<br />

Society (FRS) Unitarian Universalist will<br />

host a forum to learn about the Criminal<br />

Offender Re-Entry Initiative (CORI)<br />

on Wednesday, December 6. Clarence<br />

Blevins, reformed ex-felon, will discuss<br />

the challenges confronting inmates and<br />

ways the community can help them<br />

to make a successful transition upon<br />

release from prison. The event will take<br />

place from 7-8 pm at the FRS Lower<br />

Meeting House located at 26 Pleasant<br />

Street in Newburyport as part of their<br />

First Wednesday Program. This free,<br />

public event has been organized to inform<br />

the community about the challenges<br />

facing individuals who are incarcerated<br />

or recently released. The forum will also<br />

discuss opportunities the community can<br />

support to ease the transition after release<br />

and reduce recidivism. CORI is a joint<br />

initiative of the FRS and the Unitarian<br />

Universalist Church of Haverhill.<br />
